Crochet hook: Size 4 mm

This rug is worked using the C2C (corner to corner) technique. You will work blocks of 25 x 25 cm that need to be repeated until you get the size you want.

How the C2C technique is worked Increasing 1.

Make a foundation chain of 6 stitches. Count 4 chains from hook and 2. work a treble crochet into that fourth chain. 3. Work a treble crochet into each of the remaining chains (2). A small square is formed. That is the first row. 4. Turn the piece. When starting the second row, work 6 chains again and repeat the instructions for the first square. Every time you start a row, you have to work a 6-stitch chain. 5. Look for the space formed with the 3 height chain and work a slip stitch to join both squares. 6. Work 3 chains. 7. Work 3 treble crochet in the space. You have completed the second row. 8. Turn the piece, work 6 chains and repeat the instructions for the first square. Continue working diagonal lines joining the squares with slip stitches.

Decreasing

Once you have obtained the width you want, you have to start decreasing. 1. Turn the piece and work slip stitches until you reach the end of the square. 2. Work 3 chains. 3. Work 3 treble crochet. 4. Join with slip stitch. Carry on making lines and decreasing.

Changing colour

You have two options for changing the colour with the C2C technique, choose the one that suits you best: 1. Hide the yarn while you crochet, as you do with the tapestry technique. 2. Cut the yarn, make a knot and hide the tail into the piece.

Important

When you have to change colour, fasten off the last treble crochet from the previous square with the next colour, it will be neater this way.

Rug

This rug is made of square blocks of 13 x 13 squares. 1. Following the technique explained above (C2C), work 13 diagonal lines of squares with the corresponding colour changes as shown on the chart. 2. Decrease both sides until closing. You should have worked 25 diagonal lines. 3. Fasten off, cut the yarn and wave in the tail. 4. Make as many blocks as you need for the size you want.

Edge

You can finish the piece with an edge with the left over colour (red or black). Work a row of treble crochet, making 2 trebles, 2 chains, 2 trebles into each corner. Fasten off, cut the yarn and weave in the tail.
