Give your toes a toasty treat.
When your feet are chilly, you want a slipper pattern that knits up quickly and easily. Enter Monica Russel’s toasty slippers, worked in rib, garter stitch and stripes. Knitted in DROPS Andes yarn, they won’t break the bank either! Note Yarn is used double throughout.
SLIPPERS (MAKE 2) CUFF
Cast on 33 sts using 1 strand of Yarn A and 1 strand of Yarn B held together. Row 1 *K2, P2; rep from * to last st, K1. Row 2 P1, *K2, P2; rep from * to end.
Rep Rows 1 and 2, 9 more times. ( Work should measure approx 15cm.)
Cut off Yarn B and join in a second strand of Yarn A.
TONGUE
Working with two strands of Yarn A held double:
Row 1 (RS) K22A, turn.
Row 2 ( WS) K11A, turn.
Join in two strands of Yarn B held double.
Row 3 (RS) K11B, turn. Knit 20 more rows over these 11 sts, working 2 row stripes of each colour. Cut off Yarn B.
SHAPE TOE
Next row (RS) K2tog, K7, k2tog. [9 sts] Next row Knit.
Next row K2tog, K5, k2tog. [7 sts] Next row Knit.
Next row K2tog, K3, k2tog. [5 sts]
FOOT
Row 1 (RS) Pick up and knit 13 sts along left side of the Tongue, knit 11 sts from the Cuff. [29 sts]
Row 2 K29, pick up and knit 13 sts on right side of the Tongue, knit 11 sts from the Cuff. [52 sts]
Knit 7 rows, dec 1 st on the final row.
SOLE
Row 1 (RS) K2tog, K19, k2tog, K2, k2tog, K2, k2tog, K19, k2tog. [47 sts] Row 2 Knit.
Row 3 K2tog, K17, k2tog, K1, k2tog, K1, k2tog, K18, k2tog. [42 sts]
Row 4 Knit.
Row 5 K2tog, K16, k2tog, k2tog, k2tog, K16, k2tog. [37 sts]
Row 6 Knit.
Cast off all sts.
TO MAKE UP
Sew Foot, heel and Cuff seams. Weave in ends and gently block to measurements, following any yarn care instructions on the ball band.
