knit 4 below drop stitch off needle and unravel 4 rows down, insert needle in stitch in the 5th row down and under the 4 loose strands, slip the stitch and the loose strands back onto the left-hand needle, knit the stitch and strands together inc 1 increase 1 in next stitch: knit into the front and back of the next st on a knit row; purl into the back and front of the next st on a purl row
