YOU WILL NEED
■ Aran weight yarn from your stash,
1 x 100g ball in each of 4 colours; we used Ivory, Gold, Purple, Orange
■ A 5mm (US H/8) crochet hook
■ Backing fabric, one fat quarter
■ Sewing cotton and needle
■ Cushion pad (38cm/15in square)
ABBREVIATIONS
ss slip stitch: insert hook into stitch, yrh, draw through stitch and loop ch chain: bring yarn over hook, grab it with hook and draw through loop sp space: space in between stitches tr treble stitch: (see right) htr half treble stitch: (see right) yrh yarn round hook Using Ivory yarn, ch6, then join the chain into ring with a slip stitch.
Round 1 Ch5 (counts as 1tr, ch2), (3tr into ring, ch2) 3 times, 2tr into ring, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join.

Round 2 Ch5 (counts as 1tr, ch2), 3tr into same ch-sp, ch1, *(3tr, ch2, 3tr) into ch2-sp, ch1; rep from * 2 more times, 2tr, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join. [8 groups of 3tr, 4 corner ch2-sp, 4 ch1-sp] Break yarn. Change to Gold, join into the corner ch-2 sp.
Round 3 Ch5 (counts as 1tr, ch2), 3tr into same ch-sp, ch1, *3tr into next ch-sp, ch1, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) into ch-2 sp, ch1; rep from * 2 more times, 3tr into next ch-sp, ch1, 2tr into corner ch-2 sp at start of round, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join. [12 groups of 3 tr, 4 corner ch2-sp, 8 ch1-sp]
Round 4 Ch5 (count as 1tr, ch2), 3tr into same ch-sp, ch1, *(3tr into next ch-sp, ch1) twice, (3tr, ch2, 3tr) into ch-2 sp, ch1; rep from * 2 more times, (3tr into next ch-sp, ch1) twice, 2tr into corner ch-2 sp at start of round, ss to top of beg ch-3 to join. [16 groups of 3 tr, 4 corner ch-2 sp, 12 ch-1 sp] Break yarn.
Change to Purple, join into the corner ch-2 sp and work 1 round as set by last round, working (3tr, ch2, 3tr) into each corner ch-2 sp, and (3tr, ch1) in each side ch-1 sp. Break yarn.
Change to Ivory, join into the corner ch-2 sp and work 2 rounds. Break yarn. Change to Orange yarn, join into the corner ch-2 sp and work 3 rounds as set. Break yarn.
Change to Ivory, join into the corner ch-2 sp and work 2 rounds in htr, working 1htr into each st and ch-1 sp and (2htr, ch2, 2htr) into the corner ch-sp. Break yarn. Continue working rounds of htr as set in the previous round, working 1 round of each colour in this sequence: Gold, Ivory, Gold, Ivory, Purple, Ivory, Orange.
FINISHING
Press and block. With RS facing, sew fabric to the crochet cover around 3 sides, turn right way out. Insert pad and slip stitch the cover closed.
