Q How do I stop my stocking stitch edge from curling? Sarah Sharrock, Newport

It is quite difficult to prevent stocking stitch from curling, which is why I use it in a design when I actually want the edge to curl! If the piece is worked in a yarn that can be ironed, then pin the piece and give it a good press under a cloth. Debbie

Stocking stitch will always curl – give it a press if the ball band says it’s OK...
