NOT TO KNOT
Q I’ve been told not to knot my yarn but I don’t know any other way to change yarn?
Amy Connor, Glasgow
If you want a neat fabric, yarn should never be joined up in the middle of a row, a knot will poke through or it’ll produce a bump in your knitting and nobody wants that! Instead join the new yarn in at the beginning of a row and sew the ends into the seam when you’re making up. Debbie Bliss patterns, books and yarns are available from www.loveknitting.com
Never change yarn in the middle of a row – keep changes for the edges where they won’t be seen!
