How patterns work for projects that are knitted in the round

When knitting in the round it’s important to be aware that you are, in effect, always knitting on the right side (RS). So if you want to knit a stocking stitch fabric, every round is a knit row. For a garter stitch fabric, alternating rounds of knit and purl are worked. Don’t worry if this seems confusing, try it and see how it works.
