Double pointed needles size 5 mm Gauge: On size 5 mm needle: 22 sts and 25 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Sleeve shaping: In each rnd, k 1 st purlwise in loop after first st and k 1 st purlwise in loop before last st. = inc 2 sts in rnd. Then k new sts until they can be included in the pattern repeat.

NB: If only one figure is given in the instructions, this figure applies to all sizes.

Body

Using circular needles size 5 mm, cast on 196 (208) 218 (228) sts. Work in rnds. Work 8 cm k1p1 rib. Last rnd: inc 20 (20) 22 (24) sts evenly in rnd. There are now 216 (228) 240 (252) sts in rnd. Continue working seed stitch, following Chart A until your work measures 42 (40) 40 (39) cm from bottom edge. Tip: Ssm after each pattern repeat = 12 sts. This makes work easier until you get into a routine. End with rnd 4 or 8. Armhole shaping: Work 103 (109) 115 (121) sts across sweater front, cast off 10 sts, work 98 (104) 110 (116) sts across sweater back, cast off 10 sts. There are now 98 (104) 110 (116) sts on sweater front and sweater back, respectively. Leave work on needle. Make sleeves.

Sleeves

On double pointed needles size 5.00 mm, cast on 50 (52) 54 (56) sts. Work in rnd. Work 12 cm k1p1 rib. Last rnd: inc 6 sts evenly in rnd. There are now 56 (58) 60 (62) sts in rnd.

Continue working in seed stitch, following Chart A. At the same time, on every 4th (3rd) 3rd (3rd) rnd, inc 2 sts under arm, 15 (17) 19 (21) times in all. When there are 86 (92) 98 (104) sts in rnd, continue until your work measures 38 cm from bottom edge. End at same row of pattern as on the body. To shape armhole, cast off 10 (10) 10 (12) sts under the arm. Work a second sleeve identical with the first.

Raglan: Work the rest of your sweater in seed stitch, following Chart A. Work cable channels along the raglan edge, following Chart B. Pick up the body. From sweater back, work 6 sts of left sleeve, ssm = end of Chart B. Work until 6 sts rem of sleeve, ssm = start of Chart B, work last 6 sts of sleeve + 6 sts of sweater front, ssm = end of Chart B.

Work across sweater front sts to last 6 sts, ssm = start of Chart B, work last 6 sts of sweater front + 6 sts of right sleeve, ssm = end of Chart B.

Work across sts of right sleeve to last 6 sts, ssm = start of Chart B, work last 6 sts of sleeve + 6 sts of sweater back, ssm = end of Chart B. Work rem sts of sweater back until last 6 sts, s2sm = start of rnd and start of Chart B.

There are now 348 (372) 396 (416) sts in rnd. Raglan shaping: Move Chart B marker. Work 6 sts of Chart B (start at 7th st), move sm, k2 tog. * Work Chart A without adjustments until 2 sts before sm, work 2 tog knitwise, move sm, work 12 sts of Chart B, move sm, k2 tog *. Repeat from

* to * at the next 2 raglan dec markers. Work to 2 sts before Chart B marker, work 2 tog knitwise, move sm, work 6 sts of Chart B. There are now 8 fewer sts in rnd. Repeat raglan dec on alternate rows around the places worked according to Chart B, 32 (35) 38 (40) times in all.

Collar: When there are 92 (92) 92 (96) sts in rd, work 6 cm k1,p1 rib. Cast off all sts in rib.
