Note Each animal uses the same pattern for the Head and Body, Arms, Feet and Snout. See the notes in the pattern for the yarn colours to use for each animal.

HEAD AND BODY

For the Bear Work in Yarn D.

For the Cat Work in Yarn A.

For the Dog and Rabbit Work in Yarn B.

For the Panda Work Rows 1 to 10 in Yarn C, Rows 11 to 16 in Yarn A, and Rows 17 to 34 in Yarn C.

Cast on 9 sts using 3.5mm needles.

Start at the base.

Row 1 and all foll odd-numbered rows (WS) Purl. Row 2 (Kfb) 8 times, K1. [17 sts]

Row 4 (K3, kfb) 4 times, K1. [21 sts]

Rows 5 to 15 Starting on a WS purl row work in st st.

Row 16 K1, k2tog, (k2tog, K1) 6 times. [14 sts]

Row 18 K1, [kfb] 12 times, K1. [26 sts]

Row 20 K1, (kfb, K5) 4 times, K1. [30 sts]

Rows 21 to 29 Starting on a WS purl row work in st st.

Row 30 K1, (k2tog, K8) twice, k2tog, K7. [27 sts]

Row 32 K1, k2tog, (k2tog, K1) 8 times. [18 sts]

Row 34 (K2tog) 9 times. [9 sts]

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

SNOUT

For the Bear Work in Yarn B.

For the Cat, Dog, Panda and Rabbit Work in Yarn C.

Cast on 16 sts using 3.5mm needles.

Rows 1 to 5 Starting on a WS purl row work in st st.

Row 6 (K2tog) 8 times. [8 sts]

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

FEET (MAKE 2)

For the Bear Work in Yarn D.

For the Cat and Panda Work in Yarn A. For the Dog and Rabbit Work in Yarn B.

Cast on 7 sts using 3.5mm needles.

Rows 1 to 6 Starting on a WS purl row work in st st. Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

ARMS (MAKE 2)

For the Bear Work in Yarn D.

For the Cat and Panda Work in Yarn A. For the Dog and Rabbit Work in Yarn B.

Cast on 5 sts using 3.5mm DPNs.

Work i-cord for 9 rows.

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

BEAR AND PANDA EARS (MAKE 2)

For the Bear Work in Yarn D. For the Panda Work in Yarn A.

Cast on 10 sts using 3.5mm needles.

Row 1 (WS) Purl.

Row 2 (K2tog) 5 times. [5 sts]

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

CAT EARS (MAKE 2)

Cast on 7 sts using 3.5mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (WS) K1, k2tog, K4. [1 st dec’d]

Rows 2 to 4 Rep Row 1 three more times. [3 sts] Row 5 K1, k2tog. [2 sts]

Row 6 K2tog and fasten off.

DOG EARS (MAKE 2)

Cast on 6 sts using 3.5mm needles and Yarn D. Start at the bottom edge.

Row 1 (WS) Knit.

Row 2 K1, kfb, K2, kfb, k1. [8 sts]

Rows 3 to 15 Knit.

Row 16 K1, k2tog, K2, k2tog, K1. [6 sts]

Row 17 Knit.

Row 18 K1, (k2tog) twice, K1. [4 sts]

Cast off.

RABBIT EARS (MAKE 2)

Cast on 6 sts using 3.5mm needles and Yarn B.

Row 1 (WS) Knit.

Row 2 K1, kfb, K2, kfb, K1. [8 sts]

Rows 3 to 9 Knit.

Row 10 K1, k2tog, K2, k2tog, K1. [6 sts]

Row 11 Knit.

Row 12 K1, (k2tog) twice, K1. [4 sts]

Row 13 Knit.

Row 14 (K2tog) twice. [2 sts]

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

CAT AND DOG TAILS

For the Cat Work in Yarn A. For the Dog Work in Yarn B.

Cast on 3 sts using 3.5mm DPNs. Work i-cord for 5 rows.

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

RABBIT TAIL

Cast on 8 sts using 3.5mm needles and Yarn C.

Row 1 Knit.

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

PANDA BAMBOO SHOOT

Cast on 3 sts using 3.5mm DPNs and Yarn E.

Work i-cord for 10 rows.

Break yarn and thread through rem sts. Pull tight to fasten.

MAKING UP HEAD AND BODY

Sew the side edges tog for centre back, add stuffing and gather the cast-on sts tog at the base. Cut a 20cm length of yarn in the Head colour and tie firmly around the neckline (Row 17), bury the yarn ends inside the body.

SNOUT

Sew the side edges tog. Add a little stuffing and sew the cast-on edge onto the front of the Head. Embroider the nose in 3 small

horizontal sts on the top of the Snout in Yarn A for the Bear, Dog and Panda, and Yarn B for the Cat and Rabbit. Use black embroidery thread to embroider a vertical line below the nose.

EYES

Embroider the eye patches in slanting sts on each side of the Snout in Yarn C for the Cat, Yarn A for the Panda, and Yarn D for the Dog (only embroider one eye patch for the Dog). Sew beads onto the Head for the eyes. For Bear, use black embroidery thread to embroider the eyebrows.

ARMS

Weave in the cast-on tail, and use the cast-off end to attach to the top side of the Body.

FEET

Sew the side edges tog, add a little stuffing, and gather the cast-on sts tog to make a ball shape. Sew this end onto the bottom front sides of the Body.

BEAR AND PANDA EARS

Sew the side edges onto the top of the Head so that the WS faces the front.

CAT EARS

Sew the side edge onto the top of the Head.

DOG EARS

Sew the cast-off edge onto the top of the Head.

RABBIT EARS

Fold the cast-on edge in half and sew onto the top of the Head.

CAT AND DOG TAILS

Weave in the cast-on tail, and use the cast-off tail to attach to the bottom back of the Body.

RABBIT TAIL

Sew the side edges tog to make a small circle and sew the centre of the tail onto the bottom back of the Body.

CAT AND DOG COLLARS

Using a 3.5mm crochet hook and Yarn E, crochet a single chain long enough to wrap around the neck and fasten off. Wrap around the neck and sew the ends of the chain tog at the back.

PANDA BAMBOO

Weave in the yarn tails and sew onto one of the arms.

KEYCHAINS

Using the Head colour yarn, sew the keychain securely onto the top of the Head of each toy.
