PENGUIN HEAD

Begin at the beak.

Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn D. Row 1 (WS) Purl.

Row 2 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [6 sts]

Row 3 Purl.

Change to Yarn C.

Row 4 K2, (kfb) twice, K2. [8 sts]

Row 5 P2, (kfb) 4 times, P2. [12 sts]

Row 6 K2, (kfb) 8 times, K2. [20 sts]

Row 7 Purl.

Row 8 K8, (kfb) 4 times, K8. [24 sts]

Work 8 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.

Row 17 *P2tog, P3; rep from * to last 4 sts, p2tog, P2. [19 sts]

Row 18 Knit.

Row 19 *P2tog, P1; rep from * to last st. P1.

[13 sts]

Row 20 *K2tog; rep from * to last st, K1. [7 sts] Cast off.

Sew side edges and stuff carefully, moulding to the right shape, attach eyes using the photograph for guidance.

BODY (WHITE)

Begin at the base.

Cast on 10 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [20 sts] Work 3 rows in st st beg with a purl row.

Row 5 *Kfb, K2; rep from * to last 2 sts, kfb, K1. [27 sts]

Work 8 rows in st st beg with a purl row.

Row 14 *P2tog, P1; rep from * to end. [18 sts] Work 3 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.

Row 18 *P2tog; rep from * to end. [9 sts] Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.

Row 21 *K2tog; rep from * to last st, K1. [5 sts] Cast off.

Sew the side edges of the Body and stuff carefully. Attach the Head, adding a blue bell to the neck referring to the photograph for placement guidance.

BODY (BLACK)

Note Always knit the first and last stitch. Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (RS) Knit.

Row 2 Kfb, P1, kfb. [5 sts]

Row 3 Kfb, K3, kfb. [7 sts]

Row 4 Kfb, P5, kfb. [9 sts]

Row 5 Kfb, K7, kfb. [11 sts]

Row 6 Purl.

Row 7 *Kfb, K1; rep from * to last st, kfb. [17 sts] Work 6 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.

Row 14 Cast off 3 sts, purl to end. [14 sts]

Row 15 Cast off 3 sts, knit to end. [11 sts]

Row 16 P2tog, P7, p2tog. [9 sts]

Row 17 K2tog, K5, k2tog. [7 sts]

Row 18 P2tog, P3, p2tog. [5 sts]

Work 5 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.

Row 8 P3, p2tog. [4 sts]

Row 9 K2tog, K2. [3 sts]

Row 10 P1, p2tog. [2 sts]

Row 11 K2tog. [1 st]

Cast off.

RIGHT WING

Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (RS) Knit.

Row 2 Kfb, P1, kfb. [5 sts]

Work 5 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.

Row 8 P2tog, P3. [4 sts]

Row 9 K2, k2tog. [3 sts]

Row 10 P2tog, P1. [2 sts]

Row 11 K2tog. [1 st]

Cast off.

Attach wings to Body sides, referring to the picture for placement guidance.

FEET (MAKE 2)

Cast on 6 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn D. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [12 sts] Row 2 P4, (kfb) four times, P4. [16 sts]

Row 3 Knit.

Row 4 P4, sk2po, p2tog, sk2po, P4. [11 sts] Row 5 K4, sk2po, K4. [9 sts]

Row 6 (P2tog) twice, P1, (p2tog) twice. [5 sts] Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.

Cast off.

Turn the side edges to the back of the work and sew together. Add a small amount of stuffing to shape. Embroider the three toes with Yarn D. Attach to the Body.

HAT

Cast on 18 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) Knit.

Change to Yarn E.

Row 2 (P2tog, P3) three times, p2tog, P1. [14 sts] Row 3 Knit.

Row 4 (P2tog, P2) three times, p2tog. [10 sts] Row 5 Knit.

Row 6 (P2tog, P1) three times, P1. [7 sts]

Row 7 K2tog, K5. [6 sts]

Row 8 *P2tog; rep from * to end. [3 sts]

Row 9 Sk2po. [1 st]

Cast off.

MAKING UP

Sew the back seam of the Hat. Make a small pompom with Yarn B and attach to Hat.
