DAINTY DEER HEAD AND BODY
Begin at the muzzle.
Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [6 sts] Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a purl row. Change to Yarn A.
Row 4 P2, (kfb) twice, P2. [8 sts]
Row 5 K2, (kfb) four times, K2. [12 sts]
Row 6 Purl.
Row 7 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [24 sts] Work 7 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.
Row 15 *K2tog, K2; rep from * to end. [18 sts] Row 16 Purl.
Row 17 K8, sk2po, K7. [16 sts]
Row 18 Purl.
Row 19 Kfb, K6, sk2po, K5, kfb. [16 sts]
Row 20 Purl.
Row 21 Kfb, K6, sk2po, K5, kfb. [16 sts]
Row 22 Purl.
Row 23 Kfb, K6, sk2po, K5, kfb. [16 sts]
Row 24 Purl.
Row 25 Kfb, K14, kfb. [18 sts]
Row 26 Kfb, P16, kfb. [20 sts]
Work 11 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Row 38 (P2tog, P2) five times. [15 sts]
Row 39 Knit.
Row 40 (P2tog, P1) five times. [10 sts]
Row 41 *K2tog; rep from * to end. [5 sts]
Cast off.
Sew the Head and Body side edges and stuff, moulding the piece into the desired shape. Introduce two tiny balls of stuffing to plump the cheeks and another tiny ball at the muzzle. Attach the nose and eyes firmly. Embroider the cheeks with Yarn C and a few spots on the Deer’s back with Yarn B. Refer to photograph for guidance. Attach bell with Yarn C.
OUTER EARS (MAKE 2)
Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (RS) Knit.
Row 2 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [6 sts] Work 4 rows in st st, beg with a knit row. Cast off.
EAR LININGS (MAKE 2)
Cast on 2 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) Knit.
Row 2 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [4 sts]
Work 2 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Cast off.
Sew the linings and Outer Ears together, attach to head, referring to photograph.
LEGS (MAKE 4)
Cast on 6 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn A. Work 17 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Row 18 Kfb, P1, (kfb) twice, P1, kfb. [10 sts] Work 3 rows in st st, beg with a knit row.
Row 22 P2tog, P2, p2tog, P2, p2tog. [7 sts] Row 23 Knit.
Cast off.
Sew side edges and stuff the legs lightly. Shape and attach to Body sides.
OUTER TAIL
Cast on 3 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (RS) Knit.
Row 2 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [6 sts]
Work 3 rows in st st, beg with a knit row. Row 7 *Kfb, P1; rep from * to end. [9 sts] Cast off.
INNER TAIL
Cast on 2 sts using 3mm needles and Yarn B. Row 1 (RS) Knit.
Row 2 *Kfb; rep from * to end. [4 sts] Work 3 rows in st st, beg with a knit row. Cast off.
Sew the two parts of the Tail together, attach to Body. Refer to photograph for placement guidance.
