Note You may prefer to use circular needles where straight needles are specified for the body, due to the large number of stitches. If so, do not join and always work back and forth in rows.

BACK

Cast on 104 (116: 128: 136: 148: 160: 172) sts using 3mm straight needles and Yarn A.

Rib row 1 (RS) K1, *K2, P2; rep from * to last 3 sts, K3. Rib row 2 (WS) P1, *P2, K2; rep from * to last 3 sts, P3.

Cont in rib as set until Back measures 4 (4: 4: 4.5: 4.5: 4.5: 5)cm from cast-on edge, ending after a WS row.

Change to 3.5mm needles. Join in Yarn B.

Beginning with a RS (knit) row, work in st st and follow Chart (see instructio­ns below).

BEGIN CHART

When working the Chart, follow odd RS (knit) rows from right to left and even WS (purl) rows from left to right.

RS rows Begin with stitch 36 (1: 53: 49: 43: 37: 31), work until you have completed st 58, work sts 1 to 58 1 (0: 2: 2: 2: 2: 2) time(s), work sts 1 to 23 (58: 6: 10: 16: 22: 28) again.

WS rows Begin with stitch 23 (58: 6: 10: 16: 22: 28), work until you have completed st 1, work sts 58 to 1 another 1 (0: 2: 2: 2: 2: 2) time(s), work sts 58 to 36 (1: 53: 49: 43: 37: 31) again.

Continue as set until you have completed row 106 (106: 106: 102: 100: 98: 92) of Chart, ending after a WS row.

SIZES 4-6, 8-10 AND 12-14 ONLY

Work Rows 1 to 8 (4: 2: -: -: -: -) of Chart again, continuing to follow pattern placement as given above.

ALL SIZES

Back should now measure 43 (42: 41: 40: 39: 38: 37)cm from cast-on edge, ending after a WS row.
