BLACK SHEEP WOOL’S Sara Mulvey

Director of Black SheepWools, Sara, tells us what she’s been up to and reveals her favourite knitting bits and pieces

What have you finished recently?

I’ve finished (and blocked!) my Betwixtmas 2020 shawl. I loved making this as the pattern is beautifully written. Designer Lynne Rowe explains all the techniques used perfectly. I knitted mine using our Betwixtmas 2020 Luxury Kit (£59.99) in Rowan Island Blend DK. It’s a stunning yarn and is so warm – it was perfect for the postChristmas snowy weather.

What yarn are you using now?

I’m currently crocheting with Yarn Stories Fine Merino and Baby Alpaca DK from our clearance section. A blend of 70% wool and 30% alpaca, it’s so gentle on my hands. There are loads of fab colours available and it’s reduced to only £3.99 per ball – now’s the time to grab a bargain!

What will you be knitting next?

Next on my pins will be the new Black Sheep Knit-Along – ‘A Day Out’ is the most gorgeous blanket designed by one of our favourites, Sarah Hatton. There are kits available in either Rico Soft Merino Aran or Stylecraft Special Aran and the pattern is completely free to download! The first pattern is available on 2 Feb 2021 from our website.

What has stolen your heart?

As always so many things, whether that’s patterns, yarns or knitting tools! Top of my list at the moment, however, is the new ‘Winter’ pattern book by Kim Hargreaves (£12.95). I really like ‘Whiteout,’ a cropped polo neck in Rowan Merino Aria. I’d need to make it a little bit longer though!

But I also love…

…my new Cohana Shozaburi Thread Clippers (£44.50). I’m a huge Cohana fan, I already use the snips, tape measure and tool bags so I was delighted to add these to my collection too. I do love a handy accessory!
