SUPER STRIPES

This simple yoked jumper is worked in one piece in the round – choose your tot’s favourite colours for the stripes! By Emma Haines

JUMPER STRIPE PATTERN

3 rounds in Yarn A,

7 (7: 8: 8: 9) rounds in Yarn B, 2 (2: 2: 3: 3) rounds in Yarn A, 7 (7: 8: 8: 9) rounds in Yarn C, 2 (2: 2: 3: 3) rounds in Yarn A, 7 (7: 8: 8: 9) rounds in Yarn D.

YOKE

Cast on 76 (80: 84: 88: 92) sts using 3.5mm circular needle, 40cm long and Yarn A, and join to work in the round, taking care not to twist sts. PM to mark beg of round.

Work in 1x1 rib until neck edging measures 2.5cm

from cast-on edge.

Next round Knit to end, increasing 14 (14: 18: 18: 18) sts evenly across round as follows:

SIZE 2-3 ONLY

Inc round K2, (M1, K6) 3 times, (M1, K5) 7 times, (M1, K6) 3 times, M1, K3. [90 sts]

SIZE 4-5 ONLY

Inc round K2, (M1, K6) 5 times, (M1, K5) 3 times, (M1, K6) 5 times, M1, K3. [94 sts]

SIZE 6-7 ONLY

Inc round K2, (M1, K5) 6 times, (M1, K4) 5 times, (M1, K5) 6 times, M1, K2. [102 sts]

SIZE 8-9 ONLY

Inc round K2, (M1, K5) 8 times, M1, K4, (M1, K5) 8 times, M1, K2. [106 sts]

SIZE 10-11 ONLY

Inc round K2, M1, K6, (M1, K5) 15 times, M1, K6, M1, K3. [110 sts]

ALL SIZES

[90 (94: 102: 106: 110) sts]

SHAPE RAGLAN

Change to 4mm circular needle, 40cm long. Begin working Stripe Pattern, AT THE SAME TIME shaping as folls.

When Stripe Pattern is complete, continue in Yarn A only.

Note Change to 4mm circular needle, 60cm long when needed.

Set-up round *K15, PM, K30 (32: 36: 38: 40), PM; rep from * once more, omitting final marker (beginning of round marker should already be in place).

Inc round (Kfb, knit to 2 sts before marker, kfb, K1) 4 times. [8 sts inc’d]

Straight round Knit to end, slipping markers. Keeping Stripe Pattern correct, repeat last 2 rounds another 15 (16: 16: 17: 18) times. [218 (230: 238: 250: 262) sts]

When all increases and stripes are complete continue straight in Yarn A until piece measures 14 (15: 16: 17.5: 18.5)cm from cast-on edge.

DIVIDE BODY FROM SLEEVES

Set-up round *Slip first 47 (49: 49: 51: 53) sts to waste yarn for Sleeve, cast on 6 (6: 8: 8: 8) sts using the loop cast on, K62 (66: 70: 74: 78) sts for Body; rep from * once more.

[136 (144: 156: 164: 172) sts for Body] Remove all stitch markers except the beginning of round marker.

BODY

Continue straight in Yarn A, knitting every round until Body measures 16 (17.5: 19.5: 22.5: 23.5)cm from the Sleeve division.

Change to Yarn E and knit 1 round. Change to 3.5mm circular needles, 60cm long. Work in 1x1 rib for 3 (3: 3.5: 3.5: 3.5)cm.

Cast off loosely in rib.

SLEEVES

With RS facing, 4mm DPNs, rejoin Yarn A to Sleeve at centre of underarm cast on, pick up

and knit 3 (3: 4: 4: 4) sts, knit across held 47 (49: 49: 51: 53) Sleeve sts, pick up and knit 3 (3: 4: 4: 4) sts to take you to centre of underarm cast on, PM to mark beg of round. [53 (55: 57: 59: 61) sts]

Note Place a waste yarn marker at beg of next round. When you have worked 29 (36: 39: 42: 46) rounds from this marker, change to Yarn B for first Sleeve or Yarn C for second Sleeve.

Knit 9 rounds straight.

SHAPE SLEEVES

Dec round K1, k2tog, knit to 3 sts before marker, SSK, K1. [2 sts dec’d]

Knit 5 (7: 9: 9: 11) rounds straight.

Repeat decrease round. [2 sts dec’d] Repeat last 6 (8: 10: 10: 12) rounds another 6 (6: 2: 5: 2) times. [37 (39: 49: 45: 53) sts]

SIZES 6-7, 8-9 AND 10-11 ONLY

Knit - (-: 7: 7: 9) rounds straight.

Repeat decrease round. [2 sts dec’d] Repeat last - (-: 8: 8: 10) rounds another - (-: 3: 0: 3) times. [- (-: 41: 43: 45) sts]

ALL SIZES

Continue straight until Sleeve measures 21 (26: 27.5: 29.5: 32.5)cm from Sleeve division, decreasing 1 st at end of last round.

[36 (38: 40: 42: 44) sts]

Change to Yarn D for first Sleeve or Yarn E for second Sleeve and knit 1 round. Change to 3.5mm DPNs.

Work in 1x1 rib for 3 (3: 3.5: 3.5: 3.5)cm. Cast off loosely in rib.

FINISHING

Weave in ends, sew up any underarm gaps. Block gently to measuremen­ts following any yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band.
