40% alpaca.

Crochet hook:

Size 5 mm

Tension:

Cabled mesh pattern: 22 sts and

22 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Cable patterns: 28 sts and 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm.

Take time to check your tension. If you have too many stitches and rows, switch to larger needles. If you have too few stitches and rows, switch to smaller needles.

Slip garter selvage: Slip first st of every row as if to knit and knit last st of every row.

Garter st: K every row.

Cable patterns A and B: Work according to charts A and B. Numbers at right edge of charts indicate RS rows; on WS rows, work sts as they appear. Work the 18 pat sts of the charts once = 28 sts after chart row 1. Work rows 1 – 18 once, then repeat rows 3 – 18 throughout.

Cabled mesh pattern: Multiple of 4. Work according to chart C. Numbers at left edge of chart indicate WS rows, numbers at right edge of chart indicate RS rows. Beg chart pat with 4 sts before pat rep, work the 4-st pat repeat throughout, end with 4 sts after pat rep. Repeat rows 1 – 4 throughout. Note that chart pat begins with a WS row.

Cast on 86 sts.

Row 1 [WS]: Slip garter selvage, work 2 sts in garter st, p18; work row 1 of chart C for cabled mesh pat, beg chart pat with 4 sts before pat rep, work the 4-st pat rep 9 times, end with 4 sts after pat rep; p18, work 2 sts in garter st, slip garter selvage.

Row 2 [RS]: Slip garter selvage, work 2 sts in garter st, work row 1 of chart A for cable pat A = 28 sts after increases, work row 2 of chart C over next 44 sts, work row 1 of chart B for cable pat B = 28 sts after increases, work 2 sts in garter st, slip garter selvage = 106 sts total.

Work in pat as establishe­d for approx. 170 cm, ending with a chart row 10 or 18 of cable pat A and B. Bind off all sts and at same time, decrease 10 sts over cable crossings.

Finishing

Carefully weave in all ends.

Make and attach fringes: For each fringe, cut 2 strands of yarn, each strand 50 cm long. With crochet hook, attach 1 fringe in every other cast-on st and in every other bound-off st.
