Cast on 110 (122: 134: 146) sts using 3.25mm needles and Yarn A. Rib row 1 P2, (K2, P2) to end.

Rib row 2 K2, (P2, K2) to end.

These 2 rows form the rib.

Work a further 10 rows, dec 2 (0: 0: 2) sts and inc 0 (4: 1: 0) sts across last row. [108 (126: 135: 144) sts]

Change to 4mm needles. Work in flag pattern as folls:

Row 1 (P1, K8) to end.

Row 2 (P7, K2) to end.

Row 3 (P3, K6) to end.

Rows 4 and 5 (P5, K4) to end.

Row 6 (P3, K6) to end.

Row 7 (P7, K2) to end.

Row 8 (P1, K8) to end.

Row 9 (K8, P1) to end.

Row 10 (K2, P7) to end.

Row 11 (K6, P3) to end.

Rows 12 and 13 (K4, P5) to end.

Row 14 (K6, P3) to end.

Row 15 (K2, P7) to end.

Row 16 (K8, P1) to end. These 16 rows form the patt. Work a further 16 rows.

Row 1 (RS) K to end, dec 0 (2: 0: 0) sts and inc 4 (0: 1: 4) sts evenly across row. [112 (124: 136: 148) sts]

Work 3 rows in st st, beg with a WS purl row.

Change to Yarn B.

Cont working in st st and stripes of 4 rows Yarn B and 4 rows Yarn A, until Back measures approx 44 (45: 46: 47)cm from cast-on edge, ending after 4 rows in Yarn B.

Cut off Yarn A. Join in Yarn C.

SHAPE ARMHOLES

Cont in st st and stripes of 4 rows Yarn C and 4 rows Yarn B, AT THE SAME TIME shaping as folls:

Cast off 7 (9: 11: 13) sts at beg of next 2 rows.

[98 (106: 114: 122) sts]

Next row K2tog, patt to last 2 sts, skpo. [2 sts dec’d]

Next row Patt to end.

Rep the last 2 rows 6 (7: 8: 9) times more. [84 (90: 96: 102) sts]

Work straight until armhole measures 21 (22: 23: 24)cm from beg of shaping, ending after a WS row.

SHAPE SHOULDERS

Cast off 10 (11: 12: 13) sts at beg of next 4 rows. [44 (46: 48: 50) sts]

Leave rem sts on a holder.

FRONT

Work as given for Back until 30 rows fewer have been worked than on Back to shoulder shaping, ending after a WS row.

[84 (90: 96: 102) sts]

SHAPE NECK

Next row (RS) K30 (32: 34: 36) sts, turn and work on these sts for left side of neck.

Next row Purl.

Next row Knit to last 2 sts, skpo. [1 st dec’d]

Rep the last 2 rows another 9 times. [20 (22: 24: 26) sts] Work 9 rows straight, ending at armhole edge.

SHAPE LEFT SHOULDER

Cast off 10 (11: 12: 13) sts at beg of next row. [10 (11: 12: 13) sts] Work 1 row straight.

Cast off rem 10 (11: 12: 13) sts.

With RS facing, place centre 24 (26: 28: 30) sts onto a holder, rejoin yarn to rem sts and knit to end. [30 (32: 34: 36) sts]

Next row Purl.

Next row K2tog, knit to end. [1 st dec’d]

Rep the last 2 rows another 9 times. [20 (22: 24: 26) sts]

Work 10 rows straight, ending at armhole edge.

SHAPE RIGHT SHOULDER

Cast off 10 (11: 12: 13) sts at beg of next row. [10 (11: 12: 13) sts] Work 1 row.

Cast off rem 10 (11: 12: 13) sts.

SLEEVES

Cast on 46 (54: 62: 70) sts using 3.25mm needles and Yarn A. Rib row 1 K2, (P2, K2) to end.

Rib row 2 P2, (K2, P2) to end.

These 2 rows form rib.

Work another 10 rows, dec 1 (0: 0: 0) sts and inc 0 (0: 1: 2) sts across last row. [45 (54: 63: 72) sts]

Change to 4mm needles. Work in flag pattern as folls:

Row 1 (P1, K8) to end.

Row 2 (P7, K2) to end.

Row 3 (P3, K6) to end.

Rows 4 and 5 (P5, K4) to end.

Row 6 (P3, K6) to end.

Row 7 (P7, K2) to end.

Row 8 (P1, K8) to end. These 8 rows set the patt.

Work a further 24 rows, increasing 1 st at each end of the next row and 2 foll 8th rows. [51 (60: 69: 78) sts]

When you have completed 4 reps of flag pattern, cont in st st and stripes of 4 rows Yarn A and 4 rows Yarn B, AT THE SAME TIME shaping as folls:

Inc row K3, M1, knit to last 3 sts, M1, K3. [2 sts inc’d]

Work 7 rows straight.

Rep the last 8 rows another 6 times and then the inc row again. [67 (76: 85: 94) sts]

Cont straight until Sleeve measures measures approx 44 (45: 46: 47)cm from cast-on edge, ending after 4 rows in Yarn B.

Cut off Yarn A.

Join in C.

SHAPE SLEEVE TOP

Cont in stripes of 4 rows of Yarn C and 4 rows of Yarn B.

Cast off 7 (9: 11: 13) sts at beg of next 2 rows. [53 (58: 63: 68) sts]

Next row K2, skpo, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, K2.

Next row Purl to end.

Rep the last 2 rows another 3 (3: 4: 4) times. [45 (50: 53: 58) sts]

Next row K2, skpo, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, K2. [2 sts dec’d] Work 3 rows in st st, beg with a purl row.

Rep the last 4 rows another 6 (7: 7: 8) times. [31 (34: 37: 40) sts]

Next row K2, skpo, knit to last 4 sts, k2tog, K2. [2 sts dec’d]

Next row Purl to end.

Rep the last 2 rows twice more. [25 (28: 31: 34) sts]

Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 4 rows. [13 (16: 19: 22) sts]

Cast off.

NECKBAND

Join right shoulder seam.

With RS facing, using 3.25mm needles and A, pick up and K25 sts

down left side of front neck, K24 (26: 28: 30) sts from front neck holder, pick up and K25 sts up right side of front neck. K44 (46: 48: 60) sts from back neck holder. [118 (122: 126: 130) sts]

Row 1 P2, (K2, P2) to end.

Row 2 K2, (P2, K2) to end.

Rep the last 2 rows twice more and the first row again.

Cast off in rib.

MAKING UP

Join left shoulder seam and neckband seam. Place centre of cast-off edge of Sleeve to shoulder seam. Set in Sleeve, easing sleevehead into armhole. Join side and Sleeve seams. Gently block to measuremen­ts, following any special yarn care instructio­ns on the ball band.
