Pattern II, 5 mm needles: 18 sts = 10 cm wide. 28 rows = 10 cm long.

Pattern I: 5 mm needles: seed st: RS: k1, p1. WS: p1, k1, i.e. alternating with RS.

Repeat these 2 rows.

Pattern II: 5 mm needles: stocking st = RS k, WS p.

Colour and pattern sequence: knit 30 rows of pattern I with peach, 46 rows of pattern II with white, 1 row in k with banana and from the next WS row finish knitting the piece in pattern I with banana.

Tip: Knit the edge sts in pattern as set, when making up sew seams just half a stitch in from the edge.

Back

Cast on 96 (110) sts with 5 mm needles and peach. Knit in pattern I and follow the colour and pattern sequence.

Armholes: At 29 cm from the cast-on (measured hanging) place a marker at each end of the row for length and continue knitting straight. At 48 (50) cm from the cast-on, cast off the middle 8 (12) sts, then cast off at neck edge either side on every other row, another 6 sts once and 5 sts once. When back measures 50 cm, loosely cast off the rem 33 (38) sts each side, pattern-wise.

Front

Knit as for back.

Neck: At a length of 42 cm cast off the middle 8 (12) sts, then cast off at neck edge either side on every other row, another 1 st 3 times, 2 sts twice and 1 st twice, then 1 st on every 4th row twice. Loosely cast off the rem 33 (38) sts each side for the shoulders, pattern-wise, as for back.

Sleeves

Cast on 60 (68) sts with peach and 5 mm needles. Knit in pattern I and follow the colour and pattern sequence. At the same time, to shape sides, after 30 rows inc 1 st at each end of the row and then on every 14th row, 9 times in all = 78 (86) sts.

Sleeve cap: When sleeve measures 51 cm, loosely cast off all sts, pattern-wise.

Finishing

Close seams.

Neckband: With circular needles and banana, pick up 102 (112) sts (back = 41 (45) sts, front = 61 (67) sts) and work 6 rnds in k, then cast off very loosely, k-wise. Set in sleeves between the markers on the front and back.
