Needles:

Circular needle size 2 mm (80 cm) Tension:

Patterns II + III, 3 mm needles: 22 sts = 10 cm wide. 33 rows = 10 cm long.

Pattern I: 3 mm needles: garter st =

RS and WS k.

Pattern II: 3 mm needles: lace pattern, according to chart. The chart shows the RS rows. On WS rows purl all sts.

Repeat rows 1 – 12.

Pattern III: 3 mm needles: lace pattern, according to chart. The chart shows the RS rows. On WS rows purl all sts.

Repeat rows 1 – 12.

Pattern IV: 2 mm needles: 1 edge st, * p1, k2, p1 *, rep from * to *, ending with 1 edge st (= k2, p2 rib). On subsequent rows knit the sts as they appear.

Decreases: At beg of row: Edge st, k2tog. At end of row: Before edge st, sl 1, k 1, psso.

Tip 1: Pieces made from silk / viscose should be knitted quite short, as they will tend to stretch with wear, growing longer.

Tip 2: In the chart for pattern III, the squares marked in grey apply to

sizes 34-36 and 42-44, work them in stocking st (= RS k, WS p).

Tip 3: When decreasing and increasing, take care that yarn overs are cancelled out by sts knitted together.

Back

Cast on 112 (122) 132 (144) sts with 3mm needles. Knit in pattern I. After 4 rows knit in pattern II: after the edge st begin at arrow A (A) A (B), rep pattern 21 (23) 25 (27) times across and finish at arrow a (a) a (b) before the edge st. After working for 42 rows, knit in pattern I. Work for 4 rows, then finish knitting the piece in pattern III: after the edge st begin at arrow A (B) C (D), rep pattern 6 times across and finish at

arrow a (b) c (d) before the edge st.

Armholes: At 48 (47) 46 (44) cm from the cast-on (measured hanging) cast off 2 sts at each end of every other row 1 (2) 2 (2) times, then 1 st 7 (9) 8 (8) times and 1 st again at each end of every 4th row twice (see tip 3) = 90 (92) 104 (116) sts.

Shoulders: When armhole measures 20 (21) 22 (24) cm cast off at armhole edge on every other row: 6 sts once + 7 sts 3 times (6 sts once + 7 sts 3 times) 7 sts once + 8 sts 3 times (9 sts 4 times).

Neck: At the same time, as you begin shoulder shaping, cast off the middle 30 (32) 36 (38) sts, then cast off at neck edge either side on every other row, another 2 sts once and 1 st once.

Left front

Cast on 57 (62) 67 (74) sts with 3 mm needles. Knit in pattern I. After 4 rows knit in pattern II: after the edge st begin at arrow A (A) A (B), rep pattern 10 (11) 12 (13) times across and finish at arrow a (a) a (b) before the edge st. After 42 rows, knit in pattern I. Work for 4 rows, then finish knitting the piece in pattern III, for size 46-48 dec 1 st: after the edge st begin at arrow A (B) C (D), rep pattern 3 times across and finish at arrow e before the edge st = 57 (62) 67 (73) sts. Work armhole at the right edge to match the back.

Neck: At a length of 42 (42) 41 (41) cm, dec 1 st at the left edge on every 4th row 16 (17) 20 (23) times and every 6th row 3 (3) 2 (0) times (see also tip 3).

Work shoulder at the right edge to match the back.

Right front

Knit to mirror the left front, for pattern III begin at arrow E after the edge st, rep pattern 3 times across and finish at arrow a (b) c (d) before the edge st, dec 1 st for size 46-48

= 57 (62) 67 (73) sts.

Sleeves

Cast on 47 (52) 57 (64) sts with 3 mm needles. Knit in pattern I. After 4 rows knit in pattern II: after the edge st begin at arrow A (A) A (B),

rep pattern 8 (9) 10 (11) times across and finish at arrow a (a) a (b) before the edge st.

To shape sides, inc 1 st at each end of alt every 10th + 12th row 13 times = 73 (78) 83 (90) sts. Incorporate the new sts into the appropriate pattern. After 42 rows, knit in pattern I. After 4 rows, finish knitting the piece in pattern III, taking care to centre the pattern.

Sleeve cap: When sleeve measures 48 cm, at each end of every other row cast off 2 sts 1 (2) 2 (2) times and dec 1 st 7 (8) 9 (8) times, dec 1 st at each end of every 4th row twice, then on every other row again dec 1 st 9 (6) 7 (9) times, cast off 2 sts 3 times and 3 sts once. Loosely cast off rem sts when sleeve cap measures 15 (15) 16 (16) cm. Finishing

Close seams.

Closing band: With the circular needle, pick up 398 (402) 406 (410) sts (from lower edge to neck shaping = 108 (108) 106 (106) sts each side, neck = 70 (70) 73 (73) sts each side, back neck = 42 (46) 48 (52) sts). Knit in pattern IV, on the first row (WS) begin with 1 edge st, p1, k2 and finish in reverse. When closing band measures about 1,5 cm make 5 buttonholes, evenly spaced in the right band, as foll: starting at lower edge knit 6 (6) 4 (4) sts, cast off the next 2 sts without working yarn and cast on 2 new sts in their place. Rep buttonhole in this way 4 times with 22 sts in between, knit to end of row. When closing band measures approx. 3,5 cm cast off all sts loosely, pattern-wise. Set in sleeves. Sew on buttons.
