KID’S YOKED JUMPER

Note The sweater is knitted seamlessly from neckline to hem.

YOKE

Cast on 94 (94: 96) sts using 3mm circular needles and Yarn A, 40cm long. PM for beginning of round, taking care not to twist the sts.

Rib round (K1, P1) to end. Cont in K1, P1 rib for 3cm.

Working flat in st st, beg short rows at the back of the Yoke as follows:

Row 1 (RS) K32, turn.

Row 2 (WS) DS, purl to marker, P32. Turn work.

Row 3 DS, knit to last 5 sts before next DS, turn.

Row 4 DS, purl to last 5 sts before next DS, turn. Repeat Rows 3 and 4 twice more.

Next row (RS) DS, knit to marker, slm, *knit to DS, knit the legs of the DS together; repeat from * until all DS are worked, then knit to end of round.

Work st st in the round for 1 (1: 2) round(s). On the first round, increase 18 (18: 24) sts evenly around. [112 (112: 120) sts]

Change to 3.5mm needles, 40cm long (changing to longer needles when necessary).

Join in Yarn B and begin the colourwork pattern from Chart as follows:

Round 1 (Work the 8 st pattern repeat from Row 1 of Chart) 14 (14: 15) times.

Work in patt to complete Rows 2 to 43 of Chart, increasing by 2 sts each patt rep as shown on Rows 3, 5, 7, 11, 16 and 25.

[280 (280: 300) sts]

Work st st using Yarn A until the front yoke meas approx. 15 (16: 17) cm from the bottom edge of the neck ribbing.

SPLIT FOR SLEEVES/BODY

Next round K41 (42: 45) Back sts, place next 58 (57: 60) Sleeve sts on a holder, cast on 1 (3: 4) st(s) for armhole, pm, cast on 1 (4: 4) st(s), K82 (83: 90) front sts, place next 58 (57: 60) Sleeve sts on a holder, cast on 1 (3: 4) st(s) for armhole, pm, cast on 1 (4: 4) st(s), K41 (41: 45) Back sts, remove marker and knit to next marker at side, which now marks the new beginning of round. [168 (180: 196) sts now on the needles, 84 (90: 98) sts each for the front and back]

BODY

Work st st in the round until the Body measures 24 (26: 28)cm from the armhole.

Change to 3mm needles and work K1, P1 rib in the round for 4cm.

Cast off loosely in patt.

SLEEVES (MAKE 2)

Use either the magic loop technique or DPNs (find a magic loop turorial here: www.gathered.how/magic-loop).

Using Yarn A, 3.5mm needles and starting at the midpoint of the armhole cast-on, pick up and knit 1 (3: 4) st(s) from the cast-on edge and 1 st from between the Sleeve sts and the cast-on. Work the 58 (57: 60) Sleeve sts, pick up and knit 1 st from between the Sleeve and cast-on edge and 1 (4: 4) st(s) from the remaining cast-on edge. Pm for beginning of round.

[62 (66: 70) sts on the needles]

The beginning of round is on the underside of the Sleeve. Work st st in the round until Sleeve measures 2 (3: 3)cm from the armhole.

Dec round: K1, k2tog, knit to last 3 sts, skpo, K1. [2 sts dec’d] Cont in st st and repeat dec round every 8th row another 9 (10: 11) times. [42 (44: 46) sts]

Cont in st st until Sleeve measures 29 (32: 35)cm from the armhole.

Change to 3mm needles and work K1, P1 rib in the round for 4cm. Loosely cast off in pattern.

Rep for second Sleeve.

FINISHING

Weave in ends. Following instructio­ns on ball band, turn garment inside out, pin to measuremen­ts provided and steam gently. Allow to dry.
