CHRISTMAS TEA COSY

Notes Divide Yarn A into two balls so that the yarn can be used held double and knitted up as a single strand. Only use double thickness yarn if the pattern specifies to do so.

MAIN COSY

Cast on 24 sts using 5.5mm needles and Yarn A held double. Row 1 (RS) *K1, P1; rep from * to end.

Rows 2 to 6 Rep last row another 5 times.

Rows 7 to 20 Starting with a knit row work in st st.** Break yarn and place sts on st holder.

Work a second Main Cosy side from start to **. Do not break yarn.

SHAPE TOP

Work across the Main Cosy live sts on the needle and then across the Main Cosy sts on the st holder, joining them together as follows.

Row 1 *K4, k2tog; rep from * to end. [40 sts]

Row 2 Purl.

Row 3 *K3, k2tog; rep from * to end. [32 sts] Row 4 Purl.

Row 5 *K2, k2tog; rep from * to end. [24 sts] Row 6 Purl.

Row 7 *K1, k2tog; rep from * to end. [16 sts] Row 8 Purl.

Row 9 *K2tog; rep from * to end. [8 sts] Row 10 Purl.

Break yarn leaving a long end, thread through the rem sts, draw up tightly and secure. With the front and back RS together, sew 7cm from the finishing-off point, down the side seam towards the cast-on edge. At the bottom of each side seam, sew 2cm upwards, leaving holes for teapot handle and spout. Place onto teapot.

HEAD

Cast on 8 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn A. Row 1 (RS) *Kfb; rep from * to end. [16 sts]
