QHelp! I didn’t put a skein of yarn out of reach of my kitten and now it’s all tangled. Do you have any tips for untangling the yarn?

I usually lay the skein on a flat surface and pull the tangle out so I can get a better idea of the construction. Then I find the end and wind a small ball, tracing through and unravelling the tangle as I go.
