SWEATER WITH BELT

A speedy sweater project – a boxy design knitted in stocking stitch. Although this is quite a big project for a beginner, the chunky wool yarn helps you all the way. It grows so fast! The narrow ties highlight a pretty waist. 08 36-46

Inner sleeve length: 45 (45) 45 cm

Material:

Rico Essentials Super super chunky.

Content: 50 % wool,

50 % polyacryli­c.

100 g = 90 m.

8 (9) 10 balls – col 035 pastel yellow

Knitting needles:

Size 10 mm

Knitting doll

Tension:

9 sts and 12 rows to 10 cm over stocking stitch on 10 mm needles.

It is essential to work to the stated tension to achieve the correct size of garment.

Back and front (both alike) Using 10 mm needles and thumb method cast on 50 (54) 58 sts.

1st row. Knit.

This row sets g-st (garter stitch). Work 1 row more in g-st. Proceed as follows:

1st row. Knit.

2nd row. Purl.

Last 2 rows set st-st (stocking stitch).

Working in st-st (throughout) cont until work measures 70 (70) 70 cm ending with a WS row. Cast off. Place coloured markers at either side of center 20 cast off sts for neck opening.

Sleeves (both alike)

Using 10 mm needles and thumb method cast on 40 (42) 44 sts. Work 2 rows in g-st.

Working in st-st (throughout) cont until work measures 45 (45) 45 cm ending with a WS row. Cast off.

Belt

Using the knitting doll, make a belt approximat­ely 140 cm in length.

Finishing

Join shoulder seams to markers, leaving center free for neck opening. Place markers approximat­ely 22 (23) 24 cm down from shoulder on back and front, fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing folds to shoulder seams, sew sleeves in position between markers. Join side and sleeve seams.

Block out garment to the measuremen­t given and place under damp cloths and leave until dry.
