TWEED SLIPOVER

This tweed slipover is a wardrobe classic. This one has cables and a cool, traditiona­l fit. It looks greatl worn with a print dress or shirt. The tweedy-effect yarn is GOTS certified, which means that everything from dyeing through manufactur­ing to storage and packaging is conducted in line with the strictest regulation­s for organic, socially responsibl­e textile production.

Tension:

19 stitches and 29 rows in stockinett­e stitch = 10 cm.

23 stitches and 29 rows in Aran pattern = 10 cm.

Cable A (2/2LC): Slip 2 stitches onto cable needle and hold in front, knit 2 stitches from the left needle, then knit stitches from cable needle.

Cable B (2/2RC): Slip 2 stitches onto cable needle and hold in back, knit 2 stitches from the left needle, then knit stitches from cable needle.

2/1LC: Slip 2 stitches onto cable needle and hold in front, purl 1 stitch, then knit stitches from cable needle.

1/2RC: Slip 1 stitch onto cable needle and hold in back, knit 2 stitches, then knit stitches from cable needle.

Rib pattern: k1, p1 in alternatio­n (knit all knitted stitches and purl all purled stitches in WS rows).

Note:

Front and back of slipover consists of 2 pattern repeats (Aran pattern). Each pattern repeat is made up of 36 stitches and 24 rows (for all sizes).

The chart shows the right side (of front and back) with 1 pattern repeat for size 34-36.

Back

Cast on with nd (needle) size 3 mm 111 (117) 123 (129) sts and work 18 rows in rib pattern. Uneven rows form the right side (RS rows), even rows the wrong side (WS rows). In row 19 the Aran pattern starts (for all sizes).

At the same time increase 3x 1 st per pattern repeat = 111 (117) 123 (129) st + 3 + 3 = 117 (123) 129 (135) st. These increases are marked in the chart, and also described in the pattern instructio­n (see below).

At the same time cast off in row 169 (173) 177 (181) for the neckline 25 (25) 25 (25) sts in the middle, then work the shoulder parts separately. Cast off on alternate rows at the inner side 2x 3 sts, 6 st per side (all sizes) in total.

Front

Start with nd size 3 mm as for the back and cast on 111 (117) 123 (129) sts and work 18 rows in rib pattern. In row 19 starts the Aran pattern (for all sizes).

At the same time increase 3x 1 st per pattern repeat = 111 (117) 123 (129) sts + 3 + 3 = 117 (123) 129 (135) sts.

At the same time mark central st no. 59 (62) 65 (68) for the V-neckline and leave it on holder, then work both shoulder parts separately. Cast off 1 st in row 111 at the inner side, then on alternate rows 2x 1 st, and on every 4th row 15 (15) 15 (15) x 1 st, 18 sts per side (all sizes) in total.

The shoulder part has a width of 27 (27) 30 (30) sts.

Cast off in row 169 (173) 177 (181) – correspond­s to row 25 (29) 33 (37) – for the shoulder bevel 9 (9) 12 (12) sts, then in each 2nd row 3 x 6 sts.

Finishing

Block all parts and dampen them. Close side and shoulder seams. Pick up for the neck border with circular nd size 3 mm 140 (146) 152 (158) sts along neckline and work 13 rounds in rib pattern (only RS rows).

For the V-neck knit tog on alternate rounds the 2 sts (1 st left and right to central st) and the central st like this; slip 2 sts knitwise at the same time, k1, pull the slipped sts over the knitted st. Cast off all sts in row 14.

Pick up for the sleeve border with circular nd size 3 mm 88 (94) 100 (106) sts and work 10 rows in rib pattern (only RS rows), then cast off all sts. Weave in all ends.
