SCARF WITH SLEEVES

The designer really did think out of the box here. A scarf with sleeves. Why? Because a scarf with sleeves is not only warm, but also very easy to wear. The scarf is made with a soft silk/mohair blend in a fine harlequin pattern. 01

Material:

Rico Fashion Alpaca Cozy Up. Content: 45 % polyacryli­c,

40 % alpaca, 15 % wool.

25 g = 200 m.

4 (5) balls – col 003 lilac

Knitting needles:

Size 20 mm

Stitch holder

Stitch markers

Tension:

6 sts and 8 rows to 10 cm, over stocking stitch on 20 mm needles.

It is essential to work to the stated tension to achieve the correct size of garment.

Where only one figure is given this applies to both sizes.

Back

Using 20 mm needles and thumb method cast on 35 (37) sts.

1st row (RS). K1, *p1, k1, rep from * to end.

2nd row. P1, *k1, p1, rep from * to end.

Last 2 rows set rib. Cont in rib until work measures 7 cm, ending with a RS row.

Next Row. Rib to end, dec 1 st at end of row. 34 (36) sts.

Proceed as follows: 1st row (RS). Knit.

2nd row. Purl.

Last 2 rows set st st (stocking stitch). ** Working in st st (throughout) cont until work measures 45 (49) cm, ending with a WS row. Cast off.

Front

Work exactly as given for back to **. Working in st st (throughout) cont until work measures 20 (24) cm, ending with a WS row. Divide for neck.

Next Row. K17 (18), turn and leave rem sts on a stitch holder.

Next Row. Purl.

Next Row. Knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1. 16 (17) sts.

Work 16 rows dec 1 st at neck edge as before on every foll alt row. 8 (9) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 45 (49) cm, ending with a WS row. Cast off.

With RS facing, rejoin yarn to rem 17 (18) sts, knit to end.

Next Row. Purl.

Next Row. K1, ssk, knit to end. 16 (17) sts.

Work 16 rows dec 1 st at neck edge as before on every foll alt row. 8 (9) sts. Cont without shaping until work measures 45 (49) cm, ending with a WS row. Cast off.

Neckband

Join right shoulder seam. With RS facing, using 20 mm needles, pick up and knit 20 sts down left neck, pick up loop at center of V neck and knit into the back of this loop, pick up and knit 20 sts up right neck, and 20 sts across back neck. 61 sts. Starting with 2nd row of rib as set for back, proceed as follows:

1st row (WS). Rib to center 3 sts at front piece, insert needle purlwise through back of 2nd st then 1st st and slip both sts off needle tog, purl next st, then pass 2 slipped sts tog over purl st, rib to end. 59 sts.

2nd row. Rib to center 3 sts of front piece, insert needle knitwise into 2nd st then 1st st and slip both sts off needle tog, knit next st, then pass 2 slipped sts tog over knit st, rib to end. 57 sts. Rep last 2 rows twice more. 49 sts.

Next Row. Cast off working the dec as before.

Finishing

Join left shoulder and neckband seam.

Place stitch markers 20 (23) cm, from cast on edge of back and front (25 (26) cm from shoulder) and join side seams to markers.

Block out garment to the measuremen­ts given and place under damp cloths and leave until dry.
