Tension:

Patterns II-VI, 3 mm needles: 24 sts = 10 cm wide 32 rows = 10 cm long

Pattern I: 3 mm needles: 1 edge st, *p1, k2, p1*, rep from * to *, ending with 1 edge st (= k2, p2 rib). On subsequent rows work the sts as they appear.

Pattern II: 3 mm needles: cable pattern over 14 sts (to begin with), according to chart. RS rows are shown. On WS rows work the sts as they appear. Knit rows 1 – 14 once, then repeat rows 7 – 14. Before casting off, dec again where sts were increased on row 5.

Pattern III: 3 mm needles: cable pattern over 14 sts (to begin with), according to chart. RS rows are shown. On WS rows work the sts as they appear. Knit rows 1 – 12, then repeat rows 7 – 12. Before casting off, dec again where sts were increased on row 5.

Pattern IV: 3 mm needles: cable pattern over 14 sts (to begin with), according to chart. RS rows are shown. On WS rows work the sts as they appear. Knit rows 1 – 14 once, then repeat rows 7 – 14. Before casting off, dec again where sts were increased on row 5.

Pattern V: 3 mm needles: cable pattern over 6 sts (to begin with), according to chart. RS rows are shown. On WS rows work the sts as they appear. Knit rows 1 – 18 once, then repeat rows 7 – 18. Before casting off, dec again where sts were increased on row 5.

Pattern VI: 3 mm needles: cable pattern, st no. divisible by 8 (to begin with) + 2 sts, according to chart. RS rows are shown. On WS rows work the sts as they appear. Knit rows 1 – 22 once, then repeat rows 7 – 22. Before casting off, dec again where sts were increased on row 5.

Decreases:

At beg of row: edge st, sl1, k1, psso. At end of row: work to last 3 sts, k2tog, edge st.

Tip 1: The sts increased in patterns II-VI are not included in the stitch count, as they will be decreased again on the last cables before decreasing or casting off.

Tip 2: The sts increased on row 5 are decreased again on the last cables before decreasing or casting off.

Back

Cast on 134 (142) 150 (158) sts with 3 mm needles. Knit in pattern I. After 6 cm change to 3 mm needles, purl 1 WS row and dec 2 sts evenly over the row = 132 (140) 148 (156) sts. Now arrange pattern as foll: 1 edge st, 14 sts in pattern II, 14 sts in pattern III, 14 sts in pattern IV, 6 sts in pattern V, 34 (42) 50 (58) sts in pattern VI (begin with the st before the pattern repeat, rep pattern 4 (5) 6 (7) times across and finish with the st after the pattern repeat), 6 sts in pattern V, 14 sts in pattern IV, 14 sts in pattern III, 14 sts in pattern II, 1 edge st (see tip 1).

Armholes: At a length of 47 (46) 45 (43) cm cast off 2 sts at each end of every other row twice, then dec 1 st at each end of every other row 10 times (see decreases and tip 2) = 104 (112) 120 (128) sts.

Shoulders: When armhole measures 23 (24) 25 (27) cm cast off at each end of every other row, as foll: 8 sts 3 times + 9 sts once (9 sts 4 times) 9 sts twice + 10 sts twice (10 sts 3 times + 11 sts once).

Neck: At the same time, as you begin shoulder shaping, cast off the middle 28 (30) 34 (36) sts, then at neck edge either side, cast off on every other row, another 3 sts once and 2 sts once.

Left front

Cast on 70 (74) 78 (82) sts with 3 mm needles. Knit in pattern I. After 6 cm change to 3 mm needles, purl 1 WS row and dec 3 sts evenly over the row = 67 (71) 75 (79) sts. Now arrange pattern as foll: 1 edge st, 14 sts in pattern II, 14 sts in pattern III, 14 sts in pattern IV, 6 sts in pattern V, 17 (21) 25 (29) sts in pattern VI (begin with the st before the pattern repeat, rep pattern 2 (2.5) 3 (3.5) times, 1 edge st. Work armhole and shoulder at right edge, to match the back.

Neck: At 63 (63) 62 (62) cm cast off 5(5) 7(8) sts at left edge (see tip 2) and then at same edge on every other row: cast off 4 sts once, 3 sts once and 2 sts twice, dec 1 st 4 times and for sizes (48-50) 52-54 (56-58) dec 1 st again after 4 more rows.

Right front

Knit to mirror left front.

Sleeves

Cast on 58 (62) 66 (70) sts with 3 mm needles. Knit in pattern I. After 6 cm change to 3 mm needles, purl 1 WS row and inc 4 (4) 6 (6) sts evenly over the row = 62 (66) 72 (76) sts. Now arrange pattern as foll: 1 edge st, 3 (5) 8 (10) sts in pattern VI (begin at arrow A (B) C (D) and finish with the st after the pattern repeat), 6 sts in pattern V, 14 sts in pattern III, 14 sts in pattern II, 14 sts in pattern III, 6 sts in pattern V, 3 (5) 8 (10) sts in pattern VI (begin with the st before the pattern repeat and finish at arrow a (b) c (d), 1 edge st. For shaping, inc 1 st at each end of every 10 th row (alt every 8th + 10th row) every 10th row (every 10th row) 13 (14) 13 (13) times = 88 (94) 98 (102) sts. Incorporat­e the new sts into pattern VI as soon as possible, starting with row 5.

Sleeve cap: When sleeve measures 51 cm cast off 2 sts at each end of every other row twice (see tip 2), dec 1 st at each end of every other row 21 (21) 22 (22) times and cast off again: 2 sts 3 times, 3 sts once and 4 sts once. Loosely cast off rem sts when sleeve cap reaches a length of 17 (17) 18 (18) cm.

Finishing

Close seams.

Front closing bands: With circular needle, pick up 160 (160) 156 (156) sts along each front edge. Knit in pattern I, beginning the first row (WS) with 1 edge st, p2, k2 and ending in reverse. When left front band measures 1,5 cm make 6 buttonhole­s, evenly spaced, as foll: starting at the neck, work 19 (19) 17 (17) sts, cast off the next 2 sts without working the yarn and cast on 2 new sts in their place. Rep buttonhole in this way 5 more times with 24 sts in between, work to end of row. When front band measures 4 cm cast off all sts, pattern-wise. Neckband: With circular needle, pick up 140 (144) 148 (152) sts (each front, incl. end of front band = 45 (46) 47 (48) sts, back = 50 (52) 54 (56) sts). Knit in pattern I, beginning the first row (WS) with 1 edge st, p2, k2 and ending in reverse. When neckband measures 1.5 cm make 1 buttonhole as foll: work to the last 8 sts, cast off 2 sts without working the yarn and cast on 2 new sts in their place, work to end of row. When neckband measures 4 cm cast off all sts, pattern-wise.

Set in sleeves. Sew on buttons.
