WHAT MUSTARD MADE TRACEY MUSTARD
Tell us about What Mustard Made…
I’m Tracey Mustard from North East England, trading as What Mustard Made, and it all began in 2017 when I started selling stitch markers as a side hustle. I branched out into dyeing yarn and fibre in 2018, and I haven’t looked back! I went full time with WMM in March 2021, quitting my office job of fifteen years (no regrets).
What can knitters find in your shop?
Lots of bright colours – I have an affinity for bright UV reactive rainbows. I dye primarily on Bluefaced Leicester as it’s a tremendous British wool, full of lustre and drape. I also dye neon mohair, because neon fluff makes life better. I offer laceweight, 4ply, DK, and aran weight yarns in most of my colourways and rainbow bundles, in full size skeins and minis. I’m working on growing my micro-striping 50g odd sock colourways, so I can spread the joy of knitting and wearing odd socks! With odd socks, you never get second sock syndrome…
What are your highlights for 2022?
I will be marking a full year of being a full time dyer in March 2022! It’s also my 40th birthday in March, so I might have to start working on a special colourway to mark both occasions.
Where can we find out more?
I am most active on Instagram and Facebook (@whatmustardmade). You can sign up to receive newsletters on my website, www. traceymustard.com, where you will also find all my yarn and fibre. I do not attend wool shows due to my chronic illness, but a selection of yarn is available to purchase in person at the Hello Hooray haberdashery in Lemington.
