Knitting needles:

Size 3 and 4 mm Circular needle size 3 mm (80-100 cm)

Tension:

20 sts and 32 rows in garter st with purled sts with 4 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm

Be sure to get the tension. Change needle size if necessary.

If there is only one number, then it applies to all sizes.

Ribbed pattern: k2, p2 in alternatio­n, using 3 mm needles.

Basic pattern 1: Garter stitch with purled sts (RS and WS: purl), using 4 mm needles.

Basic pattern 2: Work according to the chart, using 4 mm needles. Only the RS rows are shown. In the WS rows purl all sts and yarn overs. Work row 1 to 66 once, from row 47 continue the pattern at each edge as establishe­d and work the pattern according to row 23 to 66 in the grey section of the chart.

BACK

Cast on 94 (108) 122 (134) sts, using 3 mm needles, work in ribbed pattern.

When the piece measures 8cm from the cast on-edge, using 4mm needles, continue in basic pattern, inc 9 (7) 5 (5) sts evenly spaced in the 1st row, continue as follows: selvedge st, 48 (54) 60 (66) sts in garter st (with purled sts), 5 sts according to the chart, 48 (54) 60 (66) sts in garter st (with purled sts), selvedge st = 103 (115) 127 (139) sts.

Extend the pattern in the centre in the following rows according to the chart.

For armhole shaping, when the piece measures 36 (37) 38 (39) cm from the cast on-edge, bind off at beg of row at each edge 4 (5) 6 (7) sts and in every other row 6 (7) 8 (9) x 1 st = 83 (91) 99 (107) sts.

For shoulder shaping, when the piece measures 56 (58) 60 (62) cm from the cast on-edge, bind off at beg of row at each edge 5 (6) 7 (8) st and in every other row 2x 6 (7) 8 (9) sts and 1x 5 (6) 7 (8) sts.

When the piece measures 58 (60) 62 (64) cm from the cast on-edge, bind off the remaining 39 sts.

RIGHT FRONT

Cast on 46 (52) 60 (66) sts, using 3 mm needles, work in ribbed pattern.

When the piece measures 8cm from the cast on-edge, using 4mm needles, work in basic pattern, inc 7 (7) 5 (5) sts evenly spaced in the 1st row and continue as follows: selvedge st, 3 sts according to the chart (= from the centre st, 3rd – 5th st), 48 (54) 60 (66) sts in garter st (with purled st), selvedge st = 53 (59) 65 (71) sts.

Extend the pattern from the centre st in the following rows according to the chart.

At the front border, in row 37 – 43, skp (= slip 1 st knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over) instead of sk2p. For neck shaping, when the piece measures 27,5 cm from the ribbed pattern (= 88 rows in basic pattern), dec at the right-hand edge 21x 1 st: work row 1 – 65 of the chart with decreases once. In the chart the dec at the right-hand edge are shown, work the remaining sts as establishe­d.

At the same time, for armhole shaping, when the piece measures 36 (37) 38 (39) cm from the cast on-edge, at the left-hand edge, bind off 4 (5) 6 (7) sts and in every other row 6 (7) 8 9x 1 st.

For shoulder shaping, when the piece measures 56 (58) 60 (62) cm from the cast on-edge, at the left-hand edge, bind off 5 (6) 7 (8) sts and in every other row 2x 6 (7) 8 (9) sts and 1x 5 (6) 7 (8) sts. Total length 58 (60) 62 (64) cm.

LEFT FRONT

Cast on 46 (52) 60 (66) sts, using 3 mm needles, work in ribbed pattern.

When the piece measures 8cm from the cast on-edge, using 4mm needles, work in basic pattern, inc 7 (7) 5 (5) sts evenly spaced in the 1st row and continue as follows: selvedge st, 48 (54) 60 (66) sts in garter st (with purled sts), 3 sts according to the chart (= until the centre st, 1st – 3rd st), selvedge st = 53 (59) 65 (71) sts.

Extend the pattern until the centre st in the following rows according to the chart. At the front edge, in row 37 – 43 k2tog instead of k3tog.

For neck shaping, when the piece measures 27,5 cm from the ribbed pattern = 88 rows in basic pattern, at the left-hand edge, dec 21x 1 st: work the decreases in revers to the right front.

At the same time, for armhole shaping, when the piece measures 36 (37) 38 (39) cm from the cast on-edge, at the right-hand edge. bind off 4 (5) 6 (7) sts and in every other row 6 (7) 8 (9)x 1 st.

For shoulder shaping, when the piece measures 56 (58) 60 (62) cm from the cast on-edge, at the right-hand edge, bind off 5 (6) 7 (8) sts and in every other row 2x 6 (7) 8 (9) st and 1x 5 (6) 7 (8) sts.

Total length 58 (60) 62 (64) cm.

SLEEVES

Cast on 52 sts, using 3 mm needles, work in ribbed pattern. When the piece measures 8cm from the cast on-edge, using 4mm needles, continue in basic pattern 1, inc in the 1st row 15 (19) 23 (27) sts evenly spaced in the 1st row = 67 (71) 75 (79) sts.

When the piece measures 15cm from the ribbed pattern, continue over the 5 centre sts according to the chart in basic pattern 2, and extend the pattern at each edge in the following row.

For the sleeve cap, when the piece measures 45 cm from the cast on-edge, bind off at beg of row at

each edge 4 (5) 6 (7) sts and in every other row 24 (23) 22 (21)x 1 st and 0 (1) 2 (3)x 2 sts. When the piece measures 60 cm from the cast on-edge, bind off the remaining 11 sts.

Work the second sleeve the same way.

FINISHING

Dampen and block the pieces, allow to dry. Sew the shoulder seams using the mattress stitch. Set in the sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams using the mattress stitch.

For the front band and neck band pick up at the front edge and the neck edge 238 (246) 254 (262) sts evenly spaced, using 3 mm needles, work in ribbed pattern. When the right band measures 1,5 cm work 3 buttonhole­s as follows: work 9 sts, bind off 3 sts, *work 23 sts, bind off 3 sts*, repeat from * to * 2x, work the remaining sts in the pattern. In the WS row cast on the sts again. When the band measures 3,5 cm, bind off all st.

Sew on the buttons.
