Materials:

Austermann Kid Silk. Content: 75 % mohair, 25 % silk. 25 g = 225 m.

Knitting needles:

Size 4 mm

Circular needle size 4 mm (40 cm)

Tension:

18 sts and 30 rows in Garter stitch with size 4 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.

15,5 sts and 32 rows in mesh pattern with size 4 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.

Be sure to get the tension! Change needle size if necessary.

Border pattern:

Garter stitch (RS and WS: knit) using size 4 mm needles.

Main pattern:

Mesh pattern, even number of sts with size 4 mm needles.

Row 1: selvedge st, k1, *k2tog, yo*, k1, selvedge st

Rows 2 and 4: selvedge st, purl, selvedge st

Row 3: selvedge st, k1, *yo, slip 1 st knitwise, k1, pass the slipped st over the knitted st (skp)*, k1, selvedge st.

Repeat from * to *.

Repeat rows 1– 4 for pattern.

BACK

Cast on 104 (110) 118 (124) sts using 4mm needles, loosely and work in the border pattern for 3 rows. Continue working in the main pattern.

Shoulder shaping: when the piece measures 56 (56) 58 (60) cm from the cast-on edge, bind off 4 (4) 4 (5) sts at the beginning of row at each edge; in every other following row, bind off at each edge 4 sts 7x (4 sts 4x and 5 sts 3x) 5 sts 7x (5 sts 5x and 6 sts 2x. When the piece measures 62 (62) 64 (66) cm from the cast-on edge, bind off the remaining 40 sts.

FRONT

Begin working as for the back but add neckline shaping. When the piece measures 54 (54) 56 (58) cm from the cast-on edge, bind off the centre 20 sts and finish working the 2 sides separately. For the neck shaping, in every other following row, bind off at the neck edge 3 sts 2x, then 1 st 4x. When the piece measures 56 (56) 58 (60) cm from the cast-on edge, work the shoulder shaping as for the back.

SLEEVES

Cast on 48 (50) 52 (54) sts using the 4 mm needles, and work 3 rows in the border pattern. Continue working in the main pattern.

Sleeve shaping: inc 1 st at each edge in every following 12th row 8x (in every foll 10th row 9x) in every foll 10th row 9x (in every foll 10th row 5x and every foll 8th row 5x) = 64 (68) 70 (74) sts.

When the piece measures 41 (39) 37 (35) cm from the cast-on edge, cast off all sts loosely.

Work the 2nd sleeve in the same way.

FINISHING

Dampen and block the pieces according to the measuremen­ts shown in the schematics; allow to dry. Sew the shoulder seams using the mattress st. Locate the lower armhole point by measuring 21 (22) 23 (24) cm down from the shoulder seam on each side; place a marker at each point.

Sew on the sleeves slightly stretched between the markers. Sew the side and sleeve seams using the mattress st.

For the neckband, use the 4 mm circular needle to pick up 81 sts, evenly spaced, around the neck opening. Purl 1 rnd, knit 1 rnd, purl 1 rnd. Bind off all stitches loosely, knitwise.
