Knitting needles:

Size 2 and 3 mm

Circular needle size 2 mm (40 cm)

Tension:

Patterns II - IV, 3 mm needles: 22 sts = 10 cm wide. 33 rows = 10 cm long.

Pattern I: 2 mm needles: 1 edge st, *p1, k2, p1*, rep from * to *, ending with 1 edge st (= k2, p2 rib). On subsequent rows knit the sts as they appear.

Pattern II: 3 mm needles: lace pattern, according to chart, st no. divisible by 5 + 4 + 2 edge sts. The chart shows the RS rows and the WS rows.

Rep rows 1 – 4.

Pattern III: 3 mm needles: reverse stocking st = RS p, WS k.

Pattern IV: 3 mm needles: lace pattern, according to chart. RS rows are shown. On WS rows purl all sts.

Rep rows 1 – 12.

The pattern shows on the WS.

Tip 1: Garments made from silk / viscose should be knitted quite short, as they tend to stretch with wear, becoming longer.

Tip 2: Fully fashioned dec: Right edge = 1 edge st, 15 (15) 20 (20) sts pattern II, p2tog. Left edge = p2tog, 15 (15) 20 (20) sts pattern II, 1 edge st.

Tip 3: The squares marked in grey on the chart for pattern IV apply to

sizes 36 and 42-44, work in stocking st (= RS k, WS p).

Tip 4: When increasing, take care that the yarn overs and sts knitted tog cancel each other out.

Tip 5: Fully fashioned dec for raglan (sleeve): Right edge = 1 edge st, k1, sl1, k1, psso, then continue in pattern as set. Left edge = Work in pattern as set to the last 4 sts, k2tog, k1, 1 edge st.

BACK

Cast on 142 (154) 166 (178) sts with 2 mm needles.

Knit in pattern I. After 2 cm change to 3 mm needles and knit in pattern II, decreasing 31 (33) 35 (37) sts evenly over the first row and distributing pattern as foll: 1 edge st, 19 (19) 24 (24) sts pattern II (begin with the sts before the pattern repeat, rep pattern 3 (3) 4 (4) times across and finish with the sts after the pattern repeat), 71 (81) 81 (91) sts pattern III, 19 (19) 24 (24) sts pattern II (begin with the sts before the pattern repeat, rep pattern 3 (3) 4 (4) times across and finish with the sts after the pattern repeat), 1 edge st = 111 (121) 131 (141) sts.

Armholes: At 37 cm from the cast-on (measured hanging) cast off 2 sts at beg of row each side and then work fully fashioned dec, dec 1 st at each end of every other row 30 (33) 36 (40) times (see tip 2). Loosely cast off the rem 47 (51) 55 (57) sts when raglan measures 19 (20) 22 (25) cm.

FRONT

Cast on 142 (154) 166 (178) sts with 2 mm needles.

Knit in pattern I.

After 2 cm change to 3 mm needles and knit in pattern II, decreasing 31 (33) 35 (37) sts evenly over the first row: after the edge st, begin with the st before the pattern repeat, rep pattern 21 (23) 25 (27) times and finish with the st after the pattern repeat before the edge st= 111 (121) 131 (141) sts.

Work armholes and raglan as for back.

Loosely cast off the rem 47 (51) 55 (57) sts when raglan measures 19 (20) 22 (25) cm.

SLEEVES

Cast on 66 (74) 82 (90) sts with 2 mm needles.

Knit in pattern I.

After 2 cm purl 1 WS row and dec 15 (17) 19 (21) sts evenly over the row = 51 (57) 63 (69) sts.

Now change to 3 mm needles and knit in pattern IV, after the edge st begin at arrow A (B) A (B), rep pattern 1 (1) 2 (2) times across, work 1 centre st, then rep pattern 1 (1) 2 (2) times across and finish at arrow a (b) a (b) before the edge st (see tip 3).

To shape sides, inc 1 st at each end of every 10th row 14 times (every 10th row 14 times) alt between 8th and 10th row 15 times (every 8th row 16 times) = 79 (85) 93 (101) sts.

Incorporate the new sts into the pattern, but only work full repeats of the pattern (see tip 4). Otherwise knit in stocking st (=RS k, WS p).

At about 47 cm from the cast-on (= on a 5th row of the pattern) cast off 2 sts at each end of the row, then work fully fashioned dec for raglan, dec 1 st at each end of every other row 30 (33) 36 (40) times (see tip 5). Loosely cast off the rem 15 (15) 17 (17) sts when raglan measures 19 (20) 22 (25) cm.

FINISHING

Close seams, using short sts to sew up the raglan seams, sew sleeve seams with WS of the sleeves showing on the outside.

Neckband: With the circular needle pick up 124 (134) 154 (158) sts (from front and back 49 (54) 59 (61) sts each, sleeves 13 (13) 18 (18) sts each). Knit pattern I in the rnd for 2 cm, then cast off all sts loosely, pattern-wise.
