Width x hight: 38 x 30 (38 x 40) cm
Materials:
Rico Creative Cotton aran. Content: 100 % cotton. 50 g = 85 m.
5 (6) balls – col 70 mustard
Knitting needles: Size 3 and 4 mm
Tension:
18 stitches and 24 rows over pattern on 4 mm needles = 10 x 10 cm.
START HERE
Cast on 160 sts using 3 mm needles and thumb method. 1st row (RS). Knit.
Last row sets garter stitch
Continue in garter stitch until work measu-res 3 cm ending with as WS (wrong side) row.
Shape handles
Cast off 49 sts at beginning of next 2 rows. 62 sts.
Change to 4 mm needles and proceed as follows for the main part:
Pattern note – When working main pattern, only count sts after 2nd and 4th rows of pattern.
1st row (RS). Knit 1, *knit 2, yarn over, knit 2, repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
2nd row. Knit 1, * purl 2 together, [knit 1, purl 1] into yarn over of previous row, purl 2 together, repeat from * to last stitch, knit 1.
3rd row. Knit 1, yarn over, knit 2, *knit 2, yarn over, knit 2, repeat from * to last 3 stitches, knit 2, yarn over, knit 1.
4th row. Knit 1, purl 1, purl 2 together, *purl 2 together, [knit 1, purl 1] into yarn over of previous row, purl 2 together, repeat from * to last 4 stitches, purl 2 together, purl 1, knit 1.
Last 4 rows set pattern. Continue in pattern until work measures 60 (80) cm ending with a WS row.
Shape handles
Change to 3 mm needles and proceed as follows:
Next row. Cast on 49 stitches, knit to end. 111 stitches.
Next row. Cast on 49 stitches, knit to end. 160 stitches. Continue in garter stitch until work measures 3 cm from last cast on stitches, ending with a WS row. Cast off.
BORDERS (BOTH ALIKE)
With RS facing, using 3 mm needles, pick up and knit 30 (50) stitches evenly along side edge. Work in garter stitch until border measures 3 cm ending with a WS row.
Cast off.
FINISHING
Fold bag in half and join ends of handles together at each side. Join side of edging to handles. Block out bag to the measurements given and cover with damp cloths and leave until dry.
