HEART AND BOW HEART FRONT/BACK (BOTH ALIKE)

Make one in Yarn B (C1) and Yarn D (C2), one in Yarn C (C1) and Yarn F (C2), one in Yarn A (C1) and Yarn E (C2).

Cast on 3 sts using 4mm needles and C1.

Row 1 (RS) Kfb, K1, kfb. [5 sts]

Row 2 Purl.

Row 3 Kfb, K to last st, kfb. [7 sts]

Row 4 Purl.

Rows 5 to 11 Repeat Rows 3 and 4 another 3 times, then row 3 once more. [15 sts]

Row 12 Pfb, P to last st, pfb. [17 sts]

Row 13 Kfb, K to last st, kfb. [19 sts]

Rows 14 to 19 Starting with a P row, work in st st.

Row 20 P9, put remaining sts on stitch holder, turn and work on these sts only.

Row 21 K2tog, K to last 2 sts, k2tog. [7 sts]

Row 22 Purl.

Rows 23 to 25 Repeat Rows 21 and 22 once more, then Row 21 once more. [3 sts]

Cast off purlwise.

Row 20 (other side) With WS facing, rejoin heart yarn to remaining sts on holder, p2tog, P to end. [9 sts]

Row 21 K2tog, K to last 2 sts, k2tog. [7 sts]

Row 22 Purl.

Rows 23 to 25 Repeat Rows 21 and 22 once more, then Row 21 once more. [3 sts]

Cast off purlwise.

RIBBON BAND

Cast on 40 sts using 4mm needles and C2.

Row 1 (RS) K40 tbl.

Row 2 Purl.

Row 3 Knit.

Cast off purlwise.

BOW

Cast on 10 sts using 4mm needles and C2.

Row 1 (RS) K10 tbl.

Row 2 Purl.

Row 3 Knit.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until bow measures 6.5cm, ending with a RS row.

Cast off purlwise.

MAKING UP

Place Front and Back heart pieces together, RS facing inwards. Pin then sew around the edges leaving a gap between the bumps for turning and stuffing. Turn RS out and stuff. Sew up the gap. Wrap the Ribbon Band around the Heart at a slight angle making sure the ends meet in centre back. Sew in place along the sides and where they join at the back. Sew in the yarn ends on the bow. Cut a 40cm length of C2, secure one end in the middle on the edge of the Bow and wrap around the middle of the bow piece multiple times to gather, thread the end of the yarn onto a tapestry needle and push through the middle of the ‘knot’ you’ve just made. Use this threaded yarn to sew the Bow to the centre front of the Heart. Sew a silver ribbon hanging loop between the Heart bumps.

CANDY LOLLIPOPS SWIRLY CANDY

Make one in Yarn D (C1) and Yarn B (C2), one in Yarn C (C1) and Yarn F (C2), one in Yarn A (C1) and Yarn E (C2).

Cast on 81 sts using 4mm needles and C1.

Row 1 (RS) *K3 in C2, K3 in C1; rep from * to last 3 sts, K3 in C2.

Row 2 P1 in C1, *P3 in C2, P3 in C1; rep from * to last 2 sts, P2 in C2.

Row 3 K1 in C2, *K3 in C1, K3 in C2; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2 in C1.

Row 4 *P3 in C1, P3 in C2; rep from * to last 3 sts, P3 in C1. Fasten off C2, cast off using C1.

LOLLIPOP STICK

Cast on 20 sts using 4mm needles and Yarn J.

Row 1 (RS) K20 tbl.

Rows 2 to 6 Starting with a P row, work in st st.

Cast off.

MAKING UP

With RS facing outwards, mattress stitch the cast-on and cast-off edges of the Swirly Candy using Yarn C2 and a tapestry needle. Wind into a flat swirl, sewing in place with sewing thread as you wind and making sure the seam is well hidden at the back. Seam the Lollipop Stick in the same way using Yarn J adding a little stuffing inside as you work. Sew the stick to the candy where the swirl ends. Atttach a silver ribbon loop at the top.

POMPOM RING STRIPY RING

Make one in Yarn B (C1), Yarn D (C2) and Yarn I (bow), one in Yarn C (C1), Yarn F (C2) and Yarn H (bow), one in Yarn A (C1), Yarn E (C2) and Yarn G (bow).

Cast on 8 sts using 4mm needles and C1.

Rows 1 to 4 Using C1, starting with a K (RS) work in st st.

Rows 5 to 8 Using C2, cont with 4 rows in st st.

Repeat Rows 1 to 8 of stripe patt in st st until work meas 24cm.

Cast off.

BOW

Cast on 10 sts using 4mm needles and bow colour.

Row 1 (RS) K10 tbl.

Row 2 Purl.

Row 3 Knit.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until bow meas 6.5cm, ending with a RS row.

Cast off purlwise.

MAKING UP

With RS facing outwards, mattress stitch the seam of the Ring, stuffing as you work. Sew into a ring securely. Make up Bow as for Heart Bow instructio­ns. Make a small pompom by wrapping C1 around the tynes of a fork until a decent mound is formed. Tie the mound tightly around the middle threading the tying yarn up through the fork tynes. Cut the loops and trim into a neat pompom shape. Attach pompom, with a long thread, to the top of the Ring so that it dangles. Sew the Bow to the top of the Ring and attach hanging loop of silver ribbon.

BOW PRESENT CUBE

Make one in Yarn B (C1) and Yarn D (C2), one in Yarn C (C1) and Yarn F (C2), one in Yarn A (C1) and Yarn E (C2)

Cast on 12 sts using 4mm needles and C1.

Rows 1 to 10 Starting with a K row, work in st st.

PM at each end of last row.

Cont in st st for another 30 rows adding a marker at each end of every tenth row.

Cast off.

With RS facing and using C1, pick up and knit 12 sts between the first two markers.

Rows 1 to 9 Starting with a P row, work in st st.

Repeat on the opposite side creating a ‘T’ shape (see diagram).

RIBBON BAND (MAKE 2)

Cast on 44 sts using 4mm needles and C2. Row 1 K44 tbl.

Cast off.

RIBBON BOW

Cast on 10 sts using 4mm needles and C2.

Row 1 K10 tbl.

Rows 2 to 14 Starting with a P row, work in st st.

Cast off.

MAKING UP

With RS facing create a cube (see diagram and instructio­ns) leaving one edge open. Turn RS out, stuff moderately (so as not to distort shape) and sew up the remaining side neatly. Sew the ribbon band into a ring, making sure not to twist it, and place on the box, repeat with the other ribbon band placing on the box so that they cross. Make up bow as for bow heart instructio­ns. Sew the bow where the bands cross and attach silver ribbon hanging loop.
