Materials:

Lana Grossa Lala Berlin Brushy. Content: 42 % superkid mohair, 38 % merino wool, 20 % polyamide. 50 g = 135 m.

Knitting needles:

Size 5 and 6 mm

Circular needle size 5 mm (50 cm)

Tension:

14 stitches and 22 rows = 10 x 10 cm in Stocking stitch on size 6 mm needles.

When only one figure is given, it applies to all sizes.

Selvage stitches: On every row: Knit first stitch, slip last stitch purl-wise with yarn in front.

1x1 rib: Knit 1, purl 1.

2x2 rib: Knit 2, purl 2.

Stocking stitch: Knit on RS (right side), purl on WS (wrong side).

BACK

* With size 5 mm needles cast on 84 (88) 92 (96) stitches. Next row (WS): Selvage stitch, work next 6 stitches in 1x1 rib = [purl 1, knit 1] 3 times; beg and end with purl 2, work next 70 (74) 78 (82) stitches in 2x2 rib; work next 6 stitches in 1x1 rib = [knit 1, purl 1] 3 times; selvage stitch. Work in pattern as set by last row for a total of 9 rows and piece measures 4 cm from cast-on. Change to size 6 mm needles. Next row (RS): Selvage stitch, work next 6 stitches in 1x1 rib as establishe­d, work next 70 (74) 78 (82) stitches in stocking stitch, work next 6 stitches in 1x1 rib as establishe­d, selvage stitch*. Work in pattern as set by last row for a total of 44 rows = 20 cm. Next row (RS): Selvage stitch, work in stocking stitch to last stitch, selvage stitch. Work in stocking stitch as set by last row for a total of 44 rows = 20 cm. Place marker in first and last stitch on last WS row to indicate beginning of armholes. Work even for 46 (48) 50 (52) rows and piece measures 21 (22) 23 (24) cm from armhole markers.

Shape shoulders: At each shoulder edge bind off 7 (6) 8 (7) stitches 1 time, 6 (7) 7 (8) stitches 3 times. Bind off remaining 34 stitches.

Note: Back is 11 cm longer than front.

FRONT

Note: Front is 11 cm shorter than back. Work same as back from

* to *. Work in pattern as set by last row for a total of 20 rows = 9 cm. Continue same as for back to shoulder shaping. Shape shoulders same as for back. At same time, when working 2nd RS shoulder bind-off row, work neck as follows:

Bind off center 14 stitches. Working each side separately, bind off 5 stitches at each neck edge 2 times. No stitches remaining.

SLEEVES

With size 5 mm needles cast on 36 (38) 42 (44) stitches.

Next row (WS): Selvage stitch; begin with knit 2 (knit 1) knit 1 (knit 2) and end with knit 2 (knit 1) knit 1 (knit 2), selvage stitch, work in 2x2 rib for a total of 9 rows and piece measures 4 cm from cast-on.

Change to size 6 mm needles. Maintainin­g selvage stitches, work in stocking stitch and shape sleeve as follows: Increase 1 stitch at each end of 7th row, then every 6th row 12 times = 62 (64) 68 (70) stitches. Work even until 90 rows = 41 cm have been worked from end of 2x2 rib. Loosely bind off all stitches.

FINISHING

Pin pieces to measuremen­ts and block. Sew shoulder seams. Rollneck: With size 5 mm circular needle, pick up and knit 88 stitches evenly around neck edge. Place beginning of round marker and join for working in rounds. Work 2x2 rib in rounds for 22 cm. Loosely bind off all stitches in rib.

Sew on sleeves between markers. Sew side and sleeve seams, leaving side seams open for split hem and rememberin­g that back is 11 cm longer than front.

This has to be one of this season's most wearable sweaters. It is knitted in the softest light and airy blend containing superkid mohair and merino wool. This design is simply awesome with its rolled collar, longer back and side slits.
