B&O Unveils Flagship Headphones And Expands E8 Portfolio

- Written by ATHINA MALLIS

Bang & Olufsen have released two flagship headphones during CES for its B&O Play range, the Beoplahy H9i and H8i, which the company says bring forward a thoughtful infusion of new features, streamlined aesthetics and its signature sound.

The Beoplay H9i is an over-ear headphone made from a lightweight aluminium frame covered with stitched cowhide leather, anodised aluminium ear cups and adaptive memory foam. The active noise cancellation (ANC) has been upgraded to perform between 300-800Hz.

There is a new bass port for more powerful bass than in previous models. It also has a transparency mode where users can turn off the music and ANC at the same time to listen to surroundings. It also has a proximity sensor where it pauses audio when users remove the headphones and when they are put on, the audio resumes. Users are able to connect the headphones to two devices at the same time. The headphones have an 18 hour battery life and an extra microphone to improve voice quality.

They will be available now retailed at US$499.

B&O have built the H8i headphones giving them a contemporary appearance and have increased play time by what the company says is 100 per cent and has added smart features to the listening experience.

The headphones come with button controls rather than smart controls on the Beoplay H9i. The playtime has increased to 30 hours with Bluetooth and ANC on, it also comes with transparency mode, a proximity sensor and dual device connectivity. It will be available next month, priced at US$399.

With both headphones, users can control them through the Beoplay app.

B&O has expanded its Beoplay E8 portfolio with a special edition Beoplay E8 all white and all black collection. B&O says it was inspired by the monochromatic aesthetics of an allwhite and all-black design.

The Beoplay E8 is both water and dust resistant featuring transparency mode, users are able to control the earphones through the touch interface on the device. It delivers four hours of playback on one charge and two additional chargers from the leather charging case.

They are available now, priced at $449.
