TCL UNVEILS 2018 QLED & QUHD TV RANGE

- Written by ROMA CHRISTIAN

Taking on the likes of Hisense and Philips, Chinesebased TCL has sought to further establish its place in the ‘affordable premium’ market, following the release of its new 2018 QLED & QUHD TVs.

TCL’s new range follows last year’s alliance with Hisense and Samsung, which provides access to the Korean giant’s QLED branding - a term used to describe LCD TVs with quantum dot technology

The technology claims to be a premier offering to OLED, thereby competing with the likes of LG. TCL asserts its QLED range offers a ‘wide color gamut’, deeper blacks, heightened resolution and ‘HDR Premium’ support in selected models.

TCL’s 2018 TV range launched locally in May, and follows a global unveiling at this year’s CES.

The Chinese company has segmented its new range into the flagship ‘X’ series and more affordable ‘C’ and ‘P’ series.

With the exception of the 43” P6, TCL’s 2018 TVs feature built-in Chromecast and are powered by the Android TV OS, which provides access to apps like Netflix and Stan, and incorporates voice search.

The hero X range is headlined by its new 85” Private Theatre X6, which comes with Dolby Atmos audio and a 12-channel 360-degree Harman Kardon sound system - retailing for a whopping $19,999 total.

Despite it’s mouth watering price the 85” X6 is said to be TCL’s forray into the premium market, as the company looks to further compete with the likes of LG, Panasonic and Samsung.

For those looking for something more reasonable, TCL’s 2018 TV range caters to most price points, further cementing its place in the ‘affordable premium’ realm.
