ELAC DISCOVERY ‘Z3’ 24-BIT WIRELESS SPEAKER LANDS IN OZ

- Written by ROMA CHRISTIAN

German-based, ELAC, has announced its new Discovery Z3 Wireless Speaker is now available in Australia for A$899. The new 24-bit/192kHz network speaker claims to deliver powerful amplification and “room-filling stereo sound” in a compact unit.

Synergy Audio Visual Managing Director, Phil Sawyer, affirms the ELAC Discovery Z3 is an intuituve wireless speaker which will “transform how we stream at home”.

The Discovery Z3 wirelessly connects to ELAC’s Discovery music server, and supports streaming from Apple AirPlay, Bluetooth and Spotify Connect.

The device operates as both a standalone unit and multi-room set-up once connected to the larger Discovery ecosystem. After connecting to a home network, users can control their system with their smartphone or tablet using the ‘Roon Essentials’ app.

Via improved damping characteristics (in lieu of plastic or paper drivers) the Discovery Z3 aims to deliver broader bandwidth with a “smoother response” for accurate audio reproduction. Incorporating 100mm passive radiators, two 25mm passive radiators and four amplifiers, the Discovery Z3 delivers 140-watts of built-in amplification with a “custom-designed transducer” for clarity and deep bass.

The device endeavours to offer seamless transition between Spotify, AirPlay and the Discovery Z3 app (Android/iOS).

The ELAC Discovery Z3 Zone Music Speaker is now available to purchase from selected Australian retailers for RRP $899.
