You can now pick up Net­gear’s next gen­er­a­tion of Orbi WiFi Sys­tems, al­low­ing for bet­ter sig­nal distri­bu­tion within large homes and app based parental con­trols for de­vices con­nected to the home net­work.

The new range im­proves on pre­vi­ous mod­els by pro­vid­ing cov­er­age up to 555 square me­tres when paired with two satel­lite units, speeds up to 2.2Gbps (cour­tesy of their FastLane3 tech­nol­ogy) and a de­sign that blends in with mod­ern home aes­thet­ics.

Net­gear has part­nered with Dis­ney to de­liver app based net­work wide parental con­trols for the Orbi.

Cir­cle with Dis­ney Smart Parental Con­trols al­lows ad­min­is­tra­tors to de­fine time lim­its and con­tent fil­ters on spe­cific de­vices con­nected to the home net­work.

In­te­gra­tion with Google As­sis­tant al­lows for the Orbi use voice com­mands for a va­ri­ety of func­tions, in­clud­ing re­motely dis­abling the Guest net­work and restart­ing the router.

Alexa Skill users will need to wait for Net­gear to re­move geo­re­stric­tions on the Orbi be­fore they can make full use of the de­vice out­side of the USA.

The new Orbi comes in at AU$369 with one satel­lite unit or at AU$499 for two satel­lites and can be found at au­tho­rised Net­gear part­ners, ma­jor re­tail­ers and on­line.
