POLK COMMAND BAR AVAILABLE IN OZ NOW

The Polk Command Bar has landed in Australia, one of the first soundbars to have Amazon Alexa Integratio­n priced at $649.

The Polk Command Bar was shown at this year’s CES in January.

The Command Bar supports Alexa home skills including controllin­g lights and locks plus Amazon Music and can read books from Audible.

Amazon streaming devices can be plugged into the bar’s two HDMI 2.0a ports and get power from the bar’s USB port to stream video content to an HDMI-connected TV. The HDMI ports are spaced to fit the Amazon Fire TV Stick and other wide HDMI-streaming dongles.

The Polk Audio Command Bar is fitted with two 31×83mm full-range drivers and two 25mm tweeters. A separate wireless powered subwoofer delivers low-frequencie­s via a 165mm bass drive.

Gopal Govindram from Polk Audio Australia says, “The Command Bar is a key piece in our future strategy of integrated voice activated sound devices. Together with our Google Play integrated Magnifi range of sound bars and the Polk Assist speaker, the current range of v oice integrated products is better than any of our competitor­s and a just a stepping stone towards future product.”

It is available from major retailers, specialist AV retailers and on Amazon at $649.
