LG GETS INTO THE PLONK STORAGE BUSINESS, LOOKING FOR SELLERS
LG who is still looking for retailers to sell their premium signature range of appliances in Australia is using IFA 2018 to show off new brand extension products including a new wine chiller.
ChannelNews understands that Harvey Norman was initially going to sell the range then changed their mind. Launched initially at CES 2016 the new wine chiller is capable of chilling 65 bottles in a stylish chiller that comes with a textured-steel-finish design, the new wine cellar offers variable temperature settings for each shelf to create ideal storage conditions for various categories of wine.
The unit also features voice recognition; automatic door opening (tripped by a foot-sensing sensor); an onboard drawer refrigerator with push-button lift for easy access to bottles; and LG Signature’s proprietary “knock-on-glass” amenity that illuminates the interior.
This allows owners to view their inventory through the cellar’s darkened glass door-panel without opening it, sparing the wine from damaging sunlight and temperature fluctuations.
No pricing or ship-date information is available, and LG Australia is not saying whether their neat new offering is going to be sold here.
Also, on show at IFA is a new LG Signature washer. The new premium clothes dryer automatically evaluates the laundry load and adjusts the settings accordingly. It also offers a rapid drying feature, and an auto cleansing system that uses streaming water to clear away lint build-up.
In addition to the wine cellar and clothes dryer, LG is adding a second refrigerator to the Signature assortment. The new bottom-freezer boasts such advanced features as an automatic lift to raise fridge drawers to eye level for easier access to contents, and an improved autodoor opening, which senses when an adult is within close proximity and swings the door open twice as wide as the forerunner fridge.
Currently in the LG signature range is the OLED Wallpaper TV, a door-in-door fridge, black-steel washer and combo air purifier and humidifier, which carry suggested retail prices up to $20,000.
“Combining beautiful design with the latest technologies while staying true to a product’s essence is what LG Signature is all about,” said Song Dae-hyun, president of LG’s Home Appliance & Air Solution Company. “Expanding our LG Signature collection to seven products allows even more consumers to experience the joy of owning a home appliance that resembles a work of art.”
