The benefits of satellite delivery
As technology evolves organisations like Foxtel have moved to expand their delivery of content via satellites orbiting over Australia and their new iQ4 set top box.
During the past decade satellite technology has been developed to the extent that it is fast becoming a key part of communication networks around the world.
TV stations in Australia have been using satellites to stream live coverage of royal weddings, big football matches and breaking news events for years.
Now Foxtel is using the latest in satellite technology to deliver their new 4K real time Ultra High Definition channel to Australian households who want the most dramatic 4K cutting edge content delivered to their new TV’s.#
If you have purchased an eligible 4K UHD TV you can now get real time and live high definition cricket, motor racing and football coverage as well as movies and documentaries that these TV’s have been designed for.
The new iQ4 box harnesses a fast, stable satellite connection, which will ensure continued operation after Telstra’s cable ceases in 2023.
Telstra’s current agreement to bring Foxtel subscribers using the carriers cable network expires in 2023, and, with the vast majority of their subscribers already benefitting from satellite, they are taking the opportunity to simplify things using more efficient technologies like streaming and satellite delivery.
With some customers still on the older cable system, Foxtel have started to upgrade subscribers to the more stable, high performance satellite system.
Customers who are on cable won’t be automatically swapped over for a few more years, unless you call in and ask to switch early or you have chosen to invest in the new Foxtel iQ4 box and view 4K content that is significantly superior to HD content currently being delivered for live sporting events by free to air networks.
