Swann expands connected home portfolio & security options

- Written by David Richards

Australian Company Swann Communications, whose operation spans several countries, has significantly expanded its connected home portfolio, delivering improved security options such as colour night vision and an improved facial recognition camera.

Their home portfolio now includes new door cameras that are slimmer than previous models, as well as new floodlight security cameras with built in alarms and detection technology.

According to Chief Technology Officer Alex Taleveski, the Company is expanding their prevention capability with voice activation and noise sensing technology that are able to alert a user to a potential problem before a theft or break-in.

With Swann, consumers will have a choice of wired or wireless devices in 2020 with their next-gen, wire-free connections to a home 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi home network.

Swann’s lineup now includes the all-new Wi-Fi Security Tracker Camera (CES 2020 Innovation Award Honouree), as well as a Wire-Free Security Camera and Wire-Free Doorbell & Chime.

Swann’s voice-activated Wire-Free range and Swann Wi-Fi Indoor Security Tracker Camera, which are both set to be launched in Australia shortly, also now supports Google or Amazon Alexa voice commands.

New Award-Winning Swann Camera

Among the products available from the Melbourne-based security Company is the Swann 1080p Alert Indoor security camera SWIFIALERTCAM at $119.95 (twin pack $229.95). The camera has two-way audio, which allows users to talk to their guests or warn off intruders with a siren. The camera can also be set up on a smartphone via Wi-Fi within minutes.

There is also the Swann 1080p Spotlight Outdoor security camera SWIFI-SPOTCAM at $189.95 (twin pack $379.95), which comes with two LED spotlights to enable colour night vision and has the same functionality as the indoor camera.

If you need extra light, Swann also makes a 2500 lumens ‘floodlight’ Wi-Fi security camera (permanent fixture that can replace para-flood lights).

There is also a new slim Swann Wire-Free Video Doorbell & Chime, which is one of the smallest integrated video doorbells.

It has a 1080p HD camera with a 180° wide-viewing angle, optional 10-person facial recognition and a twoway talk feature and runs on replaceable batteries or hardwired into an existing standard doorbell connection. It also comes with a portable battery-powered chime unit with 36 melodies.

The award-winning device that USA Today and CES gave a gong to is the Swann WiFi Indoor Security Tracker Camera, which is the world’s first ‘non-mechanical’ pan and tilt camera that measures light and movement flow.

It takes a higher-res, wider angle image and electronically clips, auto zooms and tracks moving objects. It comes with a micro-SD card slot for on-camera storage.

As an added benefit, all of these devices can be accessed and managed via the Swann App. Via this app you will be able to see live footage from multiple cameras, wherever you are, as well as receive push notifications when activity is detected (less false positives with True Detect).

The camera’s software has the ability to recognise up to 10 people or pet’s faces.

This one app, which was developed in Melbourne, allows a user to control all of Swann’s wired and wireless devices (wired DVR and NVR systems, powered Wi-Fi cameras, wire-free cameras and video doorbells etc).

“The technology is so good that when the app and the Swann security devices are connected, it’s like taking your house to work or on holiday with you, as one can see and hear what’s going on back home,” said one observer.
