JBL Quantum headphones

- Written by David Richards

Two years ago, Harman decided to move into the gaming market and delivered a new range of JBL theatre speakers for the HyperX E-Sports Arena in Las Vegas. Today, Harman again turns to JBL for its latest Quantum range of gaming headsets, which are light and contain AI to deliver 360-degree sound that’s impressive.

I tried these headphones at CES 2020, and they are right up there with the very best when it comes to responsive gaming headphones.

The range includes the JBL Quantum 100, JBL Quantum 200, 300, 400, 600, 800, and the Quantum ONE. Gamers will be able to buy wired or wireless versions, but they will all be over-ear models, meaning that the earcups will sit around your ears instead of on them.

This will provide better noise isolation and also a better soundstage, according to JBL executives.

Some models, like the Quantum 800 and the Quantum ONE, will also offer up active noise cancellation.

The entire line-up will also boast JBL’s Quantum SOUND Signature, which is said to help players better pinpoint where their enemies are, where shots are coming from, and so on.

“During the design process, we tested extensively with gamers around the world to develop the most advanced predictive algorithm for the JBL Quantum Range, making every game immersive and every gamer more competitive,” said Grace Koh, VP and GM for Lifestyle Audio Division of APAC at Harman.

The new JBL brand is just one additional product range for Harman Australia to add to their already successful portfolio, according to Marcus Fry, GM of Harman Australia.

“Our core range is delivering exceptional growth, and the combination of new JBL and Harman Kardon products will see us deliver new products for retailers and growth for Harman,” Fry concludes.
