Entertainm­ent is front and centre of any home today, whether it be watching a movie or listening to music especially during the COVID-19 pandemic but what has happened is a dramatic switch in habits. Big TVs are in, 24 Bit audio is now widespread, and consumers are moving to streaming putting local content providers such as Foxtel and Stan under pressure. Also under pressure is Netflix with Paramount + and HBO Max set to challenge Netflix. Consumers are turning to streaming apps with Kayo and Binge demand surging. The battle between LG with their OLED TVs and Samsung with their QLED display technology has suddenly headed in a new direction with the introducti­on of Mini LED TV technology that takes TV's and display screens in a new direction. Mini LED displays which TCL were selling 12 months before Samsung and LG are putting pressure on LG's premium display technology with the South Korean brand now moving to deliver new smaller OLED TV models including a cracker 48" 120hz model that is ideal for gaming and watch 4K content. In the audio market Amazon via their Amazon Music service have introduced high-res content with CD quality and high res 24bit audio now available for as low as $9.95 a month. Tidal who were seen as the 24bit audio leaders are charging $25 a month. Also jumping into high res is Apple. In this issue we take a look at the new products from Samsung LG, TCL, and Loewe as well as audio product from Bang & Olufsen. The big focus for LG is their new OLED and QNED Mini TV while Samsung has expanded the audio capability of their TV's while also introducin­g a new attach control box that fits snug on the back of their Neo QLED Mini LED TV. We also take a look at a new generation of 2021 soundbars.
