CES 2022 Saw Some Big Digital Announcements.

CES was a bit of a fizzer this year due to COVID, with major brands resorting to digital communication to launch new products such as the stunning Samsung Freestyle projector which is set to reshape the look and feel of projectors.

Among the new products announced were gamming notebooks from the likes of Alienware, Acer, Lenovo and MSI.

Alienware's new x14 joins the x15 and x17 in the company's thinnest line of gaming notebooks, the X line.

This notebook is lighter and better aligned with the aesthetics of the rest of the X line.

Alienware also made waves with the announcement that the new m17 R5 AMD laptop will feature both an AMD CPU and GPU—AMD's latest Ryzen 6000 series processors paired with the latest Radeon RX graphics.

This is one of AMD's first AMD Advantage laptops, a series that capitalizes on an allAMD high-performance design to enable features like AMD SmartShift, AMD Smart Access Graphics and Smart Access Memory.

In the TV arena Samsung rolled out a new range of Q OLED TV's, while LG's new line up of OLED models for 2022 included the next generation of their C2 and G2, along with the entry-level A2.

The TVs LG announced at CES 2022 mostly stand pat, and I expect them to deliver similarly excellent image quality. The company is touting a new processor on the higher-end versions, and it added some enhancements to game mode, but I doubt those will move the needle much. The improvement I'm most intrigued to test is a brighter panel on the G2.

While TCL joined the race this year, creating AR smart glasses fit to compete with Meta or Apple, they also released a pair of stylish, wearable display glasses fit for easy streaming on your couch.

The TCL NXTWear Air can plug into smartphones and other devices (it's compatible with over 100 types) and works as an external monitor, similar to VR goggles. The pair displays video in 1080p with a 16:9 ratio and is the equivalent of watching a 140-inch screen in a movie theatre.

Most of these products are set to be in stores in Australia shortly.
