DYAD ARTISANS

Smith Journal - - Smith Stuff -

What is this thing? A lobster pot? A stingray skeleton? Something to help you smoke tobacco? If you guessed the latter, you’re right: in Iran, this handwoven wire basket is used for heating coals to get your waterpipe gurgling. When Melbourne duo Missy Saleeba and Pouria Zoughi came across one on their travels, they saw its potential to double as a plant holder. Since then they’ve founded Dyad Artisans, a homeware outfit bringing the handicrafts of Iran to Australia, where they sell this piece and others. To watch a short film we made about the artisans behind Dyad, head to smithjournal.com.au /films. To sample the store’s wares, head to dyadartisans.com SJ
