PAINED THAT HIS LOVED ONES ARE SUSPECTED OF SHOOTING Robert, Cain PLOTS TO KILL ROBERT AND FRAME Chrissie FOR THE CRIME
Somebody has finally put a bullet into a despicable Robert Sugden, leaving him lying in a coma in hospital fighting for his life. Many of the villagers are suspected of pulling the trigger and this motivates a vengeful Pollard to tell the police he has evidence that Robert’s aggrieved estranged wife Chrissie committed the crime.
It may be an act of revenge on Pollard’s (Chris Chittell) part to punish Chrissie (Louise Marwood) for causing the helicopter crash disaster that killed his beloved wife Val but the plan soon backfires when Lawrence (John Bowe), fearing for his daughter’s welfare behind bars, confesses to the shooting to spare her.
The White family patriarch is content to rot in prison to keep his daughter safe and even sacrifices his blossoming relationship with Bernice (Samantha Giles) to do it but a planned reconstruction of the shooting threatens to undo the plan.
Faced with the reconstruction preparations, Chrissie begins fretting that her son Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) gunned down his stepfather because he hated him for betraying his mother with his gay love affair with Aaron (Danny Miller).
However, Aaron continues emerging as a prime suspect too, particularly after Adam (Adam Thomas) stumbles upon evidence of Aaron hiding a gun. The video footage is enough for the cops to arrest and charge Adam, leaving his mother Chas (Lucy Pargeter) terrified that he’ll die in jail.
To spare his sister Chas any pain, Cain (Jeff Hordley) unleashes a drastic plan to keep Aaron free as he plots to disconnect Robert’s life support and frame Chrissie for the murder. Once inside the hospital, Cain puts his plan in place, luring Chrissie to her husband’s bedside before emerging from the shadows, poised to sever Robert’s oxygen supplies!
