In the mood for murder?
SHUNNING HER BIPOLAR MEDICATION, Pam’s ERRATIC BEHAVIOUR TERRIFIES Charlie, WHO FEARS SHE MAY HAVE LOST IT AND SHOT Bill!
Bipolar disorder sufferer Pam Douglas has been extremely careful in managing her symptoms with a strict medication regimen over the past few years, knowing that when she doesn’t take her meds she can become unpredictable, dangerous and potentially violent.
Lately though, Pam’s (Alley Mills) fears about the rapid deterioration of Steffy (Jacqueline Wood) and Liam’s (Scott Clifton) marriage have made her very forgetful and, when she begins acting crazy trying to figure out the problem, Charlie (Dick Christie) realises something is seriously wrong. Having always closely monitored Pam’s condition to keep her healthy, Charlie’s heart sinks when he realises she’s stopped taking the pills. He tries to calm her down but there’s no controlling Pam when she learns that Bill (Don Diamont) broke up Liam and Steffy’s marriage.
Increasingly upset, an erratic Pam tells Charlie that her sister Stephanie would have ensured that Bill never touched Steffy again if she were alive. Worried about his girlfriend’s over-reaction, Charlie begs her to start taking her medication again… but Pam raves that she sees things very clearly. Announcing that she owes it to Stephanie to do something to protect Steffy, the cherished granddaughter who carries her name, Pam suddenly rushes out of the office. It’s not long before Bill’s shot and Charlie is horrified to find Pam staggering back into the office in a disoriented state the next morning. She never came home the night before, she’s still wearing yesterday’s clothes and is in the midst of a blackout, unable to remember anything about her whereabouts after leaving the office. Thankfully, Charlie does manage to convince Pam to take her bipolar pills.
However, Pam’s moods remain erratic, especially after she witnesses Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) being arrested for shooting Bill. During lunch at Il Giardino, Pam stares into space, lost in her own troubled thoughts. Maya (Karla Mosley) can’t help but notice her demeanour and wonders if she’s alright as Pam shakily fills her in on Ridge’s arrest. Eavesdropping, Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) admits that it isn’t a surprise that Bill was shot or that Ridge is in custody.
Upon hearing Pam make a cryptic remark about the shooting and Maya express her fears for Pam’s wellbeing, Sheila can’t help but wonder if Pam flipped out and really did shoot Bill...
