BATTLE STATIONS

Tensions between the US and China hit an impasse AS VITAL EVIDENCE LOOKS SET TO UNMASK THE PINE GAP MOLE… HOPEFULLY BEFORE CATASTROPHE ERUPTS!

Soap World - - CONTENTS -

Diplomacy in the region is plunged into chaos by the Pine Gap mole!

Pine Gap’s personnel have long dreaded the fateful moment when the mole lurking in their midst activates the malware which will release sensitive information and push the US and China into war! Now it’s finally happened and the only chance A-Crew has to avoid the unthinkable is to nab the traitor before it’s too late.

Uncovering new information about Simon (Sachin Joab), Kath (Jacqueline McKenzie) – who thought ne may be the culprit – is stunned to realise her suspicions may be rather misguided. Interrogating him, she’s persuaded that he’s innocent and he’s struck off the suspects list. Frustrated, Kath now has to look elsewhere for less easy answers.

Ethan (Steve Toussaint) and Paul (Kelton Pell) may be able to provide them, with Ethan’s marriage to Belle (Simone Kessell) disintegrating quite alarmingly, pushing her into a full-blown affair with new friend, Shonguran Enterprises mining executive Zhou Lin (Jason Chong). The fact they’re keeping it under wraps triggers warning bells for Paul, who suspects there’s more to Zhou than meets the eye. When Zhou finally achieves his aim to get the Arrernte tribal elders’ signature on the dotted line to have the gas mine in Central Australia approved, it seems Paul’s grave misgivings may be proven. Could Zhou have connections to the mole?

With the mine about to be built, Kath’s filled with real trepidation as Australia now has mutually exclusive loyalties – economic to China, military to America – leaving the exposed Aussies as the proverbial piggy in the middle if or when war between the superpowers breaks out. Tensions continue to escalate before Kath uncovers a piece of intelligence that changes everything she’s known about the mole – who’s basking in their triumph after leaking the drone strike footage on the Sbadhinata terrorists along with the audio of the conflicted Pine Gap A-Crew moments before the passenger jet was shot down over the APEC Summit.

With America already provoking China into shooting down one of its F-16 jets by launching a precision air strike against a Chinese-claimed island, the hunt is on to find the missing pilot, who ejected somewhere over the South China Sea. Otherwise, the mole will make a hefty meal of that failure, too!

Forced to keep powerful secrets from the President and the Prime Minister to downgrade the threat of war, Kath and Ethan act on their last line of defence. The disgraced Simon and Paul’s activist daughter Immy (Madeleine Madden) must be engaged to help them find the Pine Gap mole. In exchange for their cooperation, a bribe must be offered... but will they accept it or sit back and effectively push the proverbial button on what threatens to deteriorate into World War III?

PINE GAP SUNDAYS It looks like a China crisis for Belle (Simone Kessell) and Zhou (Jason Chong)
