JACK’S BACK...

NEW YEAR’S EVE IS SHAPING UP AS A SHOCKER FOR Jennifer WHEN HUBBY Jack SHOWS UP ALIVE, AND IS THAT ARCH FOE Eve IN TOW? WHAT COULD IT ALL MEAN?

Soap World - - CONTENTS - SW

And who’s that with him? Get set for a rollercoaster ride on Days of Our Lives!

Life has never quite been the same for Jennifer Horton Deveraux since the death of her beloved soulmate Jack six years ago. Since then, she and their children have clung – desperately – to memories of him and even sought comfort in seeing apparitions, all the while praying that one day he’d return to them in the flesh. Now that day’s finally here!

On New Year’s Eve, a very much alive Jack (Matthew Ashford) will return to Salem and his family – however, his shock reappearance and the circumstances behind it will not only bewitch his loved ones but pose a heap of questions...

How did Jack survive?

The seeds for that explanation have recently been sown with Nicole (Arianne Zucker) uncovering several doors bearing cryptic initials while trapped and fighting for her life in Xander Kiriakis’s (Paul Telfer) warehouse. One door bore the moniker “J.D.” – and with Xander’s maniacal boss Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) confirming that EJ wasn’t the only Salemite to “come back from the grave”, all signs point to “J.D.” standing for none other than Jack Deveraux!

With this seemingly the case, it’s very possible that Dr Rolf (Wilhelm Rolf) – who survived death himself and has used the life-saving serum he’s developed to revive other dead-as-a-dodo residents – also injected Jack with the revival drug. It brought him back to life many years ago, only for him to fall into the DiMeras’ web and end up as their hostage...

How did Jack escape and why did he stay away?

There may be quite a simple explanation! Given the explosion and blaze that blew the warehouse to smithereens, Jack may have unknowingly fled the carnage with possible head injuries, perhaps inducing amnesia.

How on Earth did Eve find him?

If it’s true that Jack returns with Eve in tow, it could be because of the clash that Eve (Kassie DePaiva) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) had just before Eve left Salem at the end of October. Blaming Jennifer for Nicole’s tragic death in the warehouse explosion, a bitter and nasty Eve also accused her feisty foe of evilly and even callously destroying her romance with Brady (Eric Martsolf). She maintained that if Jennifer had never revealed to Brady that Eve was responsible for him losing custody of Tate to Theresa earlier in the year, not to mention telling Eric (Greg Vaughan) that Nicole killed Deimos, none of the ensuing chaos would’ve happened! Departing for New York, Eve promised Jennifer she would return to wreak revenge on her.

What better way for Eve to torment Jennifer than to use Jack against her? Perhaps an amnesiac Jack has found his way to the Big Apple after fleeing the explosion where Eve has come across him and nursed his physical injuries. Playing nursemaid could have rekindled Eve’s past obsession with the ex-husband she divorced almost three decades ago and, using Jack’s memory loss against him, she may be seducing him back into her bed. What would her motivation be? Why, to come home and taunt Jennifer over the affair in a wreckless attempt to steal Jack from her!

Whatever happens when Jack gets back, his homecoming is bound to be one hell of an emotional rollercoaster – one thing’s for certain: there’ll be ramifications that nobody ever saw coming!
