Maggie’s CANCER battle

SUMMER BAY HAS PLAYED HOST TO so many scandals, twists and dramas in 2018 IT’S HIGH TIME TO LOOK BACK AT THE BIGGEST H&A STORIES OF THE YEAR...

Soap World - - AUSSIE PRIMETIME -

Last year ended on a horrifying note for school principal MAGGIE ASTONI (Kestie Morassi) when she inexplicably collapsed to the ground, clutching her abdomen, after a party at Salt restaurant. It effectively kicked off an emotionally gut-wrenching 2018 for the brave lady as she was diagnosed with an abdominal mass that was cancerous and required chemotherapy. Struggling to maintain a normal life while having the treatment, it all took a terrible toll and Maggie reluctantly gave up teaching to focus on her battle. She endured setbacks, such as infections, that interrupted her progress and then there was the demoralising loss of her lush locks. After her condition deteriorated while enduring the chemo, Maggie reluctantly grasped onto the promise of a stem cell procedure that could save her... only for that to initially fail. Believing she was going to die, Maggie prepared to say goodbye to her loved ones and collapsed at BRODY (Jackson Heywood) and ZIGGY’S (Sophie Dillman) wedding! Luckily, she received a last-minute stem cell transplant and slowly began the road to recovery, eventually passing the 100-day mark that meant she could finally get on with her second chance at life.
