OVERALL VERDICT

The new improved Play:5 was an important move to keep Sonos up with the rising wave of competition. It’s not the best wireless speaker on the market by a long chalk — Bluesound, Definitive Technology and Yamaha have better ones. But all those are more expensive; at its price, the new Play:5 is well up with the best of the competition. Add the excellent app, the services available, the system reilability and the wide recognition of the brand, and we reckon Sonos isn’t about to lose its grip on the wireless multiroom market any time soon.
